Wiki adoption requests
Wikia - creating communities
This page is for users to request administrator or bureaucrat rights on inactive wikis such as those listed in the Adopt a wiki category. On active wikis, talk to the project's bureaucrats or open a Request for Adminship.
Wikis can only be adopted by an active community member -- so before you request adminship please be sure you're meeting the following requirements. We look forward to having you adopt a wiki!

Once you've worked on these things for two weeks, you can add your request to the bottom of the page.
Please include a link to Special:Contributions/YOUR_USERNAME on the wiki, and a link to a concluded Request for Adminship or other discussions you've had with an active community. Thank you!
[edit] Sabrinia, the Teenage Witch (Declined)
I have one last request. I would like to adopt the Sabrina the Teenage Witch wiki. It seems to have been desserted for the past month, or longer. Elbutler 19:19, 3 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Elbutler. See the guidelines above. You need to have contributed for 2 weeks, welcomed other users, and added 20 new articles; so far you've only contributed 1 day on this wiki. I think it's great that you want to find a new wiki to work on, but you can do almost everything you need to get this wiki going without being an admin. Once you've contributed more we'll be happy to look at your request again. -- Wendy (talk) 18:53, 5 November 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Bakugan Fanon Wiki (Declined)
I would like to be a sysop on this wiki. I have been making helpful templates on the wiki, and so, i can do other things too while being a sysop.Digisapien 21:57, 2 November 2008 (UTC)
- You're off to a nice start, Digisapien. Please check back in a week or so after you've created some more pages, and we'll be happy to provide you with the admin tools. Thanks! — Catherine

[edit] Open Source (Declined)
There are countless sources out there for free source code, and this wiki is now inactive -- no wonder, there is little interest in another. Instead, I would like to use opensource.wikia.com to become a common knowledge base among open source communities. We all clearly have common problem as the recent GSoC mentor summit showed and yet the communication between us is really low. —This unsigned comment is by Chx1975 (talk • contribs). - I see you made some edits for a few days, but haven't been back. Have you lost interest in this project? — Catherine

[edit] Teen Titans again (On hold)
(from User Talk:Merrystar) Hello Merrystar, a short while ago I requested to adopt the TT Wiki but you said I needed to make more contributions, and I have so can I adopt it now? If not could you at least block User:Simon10? He keeps messing up the Kitten page no matter how many times someone edits it! So please if not the adminship could you at least do something about him please?
Sweatshirt Shiro 02:26, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hi. I took care of the problem user for you. You've done a great job over the past few weeks on the wiki adding content -- I'm impressed! I see that there are now a few other users which changes things a little. Could you please welcome them on their talk pages, and make a template to welcome any further contributors (per the guidelines on this page). And then set up a page in either the Forum or the Community Portal (or wherever you want) saying that you want to adopt the wiki, and inviting comments. I can help with a sitenotice to make sure people know about it. If you want to see an example, go to admins on Charmed Wiki to see how it works. -- Wendy (talk) 02:47, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Courage (On hold)
Hi. I would like to adopt the Courage wiki. It's inactive, and I've been making lots of edits, and creating several pages.Super grit 23:36, 27 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Super grit. You're doing a nice job on the wiki. It appears that the founder made an edit on the wiki about a week ago. Could you please ask him about becoming a sysop? -- Wendy (talk) 02:27, 28 October 2008 (UTC)
- I see that User:Acethebob hasn't answered your question, but you also seem to have stopped making edits at http://courage.wikia.com -- have you lost interest in this project? — Catherine

[edit] Combat Arms Wiki (Accepted)
I sent an e-mail request for this to KyleH. I'm incredibly active on it and work extremely hard. Please and thank you. I would like to become an admin as I have done more edits than anyone to this wiki. I janitor it, visit daily, make templates and updates, and would appreciate acceptance. Coraircate 22:58, 30 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Coraircate! I'm afraid that I didn't receive your email, but nonetheless, it looks like you've been doing really good work on the wiki. That said, there are several other contributors who should have a say in who becomes an admin. I have posted a sitenotice on the wiki to give people an opportunity to voice their opinions. Once that has been up for a few days, post a note back here and we can proceed with whatever you guys decide. --KyleH

[edit] I wanna adopt the CAW Wikia (Accepted)
I've been asking for months to adopt the CAW Wikia, and STILL nothing. There are countless number of vandalism, and I can't do much of anything. If I adopt the CAW Wikia, I can stop it. XtremeTony 05:03, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
[edit] CAW Wikia Adoption
As an impartial party,
I am sick of seeing CAW's Wikia being vandalised. There are people who have CAWs and CAW leagues that work hard on their profiles as they do on their leagues.
Now take it for what you will but we either need someone who's always going to remain neutral and nip trouble in the bud or institute a new rule for the Wikias where ONLY people who have signed up can edit pages. I wish I could say I'm qualified for it but there is no qualification for it.....Give someone the job and see what they can do. That's all I have to say.

[edit] UnRuneScape (Accepted)
There has been some sustained editing by other users, but only recently, and there are no active Beaurocrats or reliably active Admins. Though these requirements are not strictly met, I think I deserve at least Sysop status for my contributions, but cannot do so due to inactivity on the Wiki. The Wiki is not up for adoption; I asked on the forums, and was directed here.--Pig house (talk) 17:49, 6 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Research situation in Italy (Declined)
I would like to use this Wiki to start a discussion in particular among Italian researchers who are working abroad to share our demands about research situation in Italy and then to turn these demands into projects to carry out together. This Wiki could a starting point to create an association of Italian researchers.
- Hi, is there an existing wiki you are interested in adopting? I couldn't find anything specific to Italian researchers. If not, you can ask to create a new wiki at http://requests.wikia.com/wiki/Special:RequestWiki -- thanks! — Catherine

[edit] Weebl's Stuff Wiki (Accepted)
After an embarrassing experience at the Requests Wiki, I became the only active member of this abandoned wiki and I gave the owner over a week to come back, like Catherine suggested, and he didn't, so I'm requesting to take the wiki over. I even redesigned the Main Page, the logo, and the welcome template. So far, I've made/remade 25 decent pages and I think it's ready for me to adopt. Here all of my edits there. Also, If I get the powers, can you change it's name to Weeblpedia? JCM (talk·edits) 01:27, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for the effort you've put in there; it's starting to come together nicely. I have granted admin tools to your JCM account and I look forward to seeing what you do with the project.
- As to a name change, we've found that sites ranks higher in search engines if the wiki's topic ("Weebl's Stuff"), which people are most likely to use as search keywords, is used in the sitename. We can change it if you really want to, but it may make it harder for people to find your project. — Catherine
(talk) 18:50, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
- Well, could you do something like the Wookieepedia, with a surname with the topic's name in it? I'd like it to be "Weeblpedia, the wiki about Weebl's Stuff", but the project namespace be Weeblpedia. JCM (talk·edits) 00:05, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
- No, that's not a surname. Wookieepedia appears as Wookieepedia, the Star Wars Wiki because of their modifications to MediaWiki:Pagetitle (See w:c:starwars:MediaWiki:Pagetitle). You can do the same. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 14:19, 14 November 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, but can I at least change the project namespace to be Weeblpedia? JCM (talk·edits) 00:44, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
- Ask a Staffmember; I don't have the ability to do that. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 05:15, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Voltron (Accepted)
I tried to create a Voltron Wiki since there isn't one yet, but I got the message there already was one. I look through the list of wiki, and its not there, no requested wiki called Voltron to be found anywhere at all, nor is it on the adopt a wiki page. If someone else was going to make it, shouldn't it be listed somewhere? Please help. There is a lot of great information which those editing the regular Wikipedia thought made the article far too long, and I want to restore it since I found all that stuff interesting, plus add additional things as well. Dream Focus 23:28, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

Can I adopt it? --User:Binclin/sig 17:45, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

- The wiki definitely needs some love; however, it looks like you've only edited for one day so far. [edit] Left 4 Dead (Withdrawn)
Hello-
I am asking to be added as an administrator/bureaucrat for the Left 4 Dead wiki. The current administrator is ShadoW[1], and he did a very good job on creating a wiki for an unreleased game, but now that it's almost time for the game to be released (it is released the 18th), a lot of people are going to be adding content to the wiki and several things need to be changed around (such as a few things on the side-menu thing, whatever it's called).
I've spent several hours[2] editing the wiki, and I'm soon going to look into overhauling the CSS if at all possible. I check up on the wiki at least once a day to see if anything has changed of importance, and I've had a clean track record with Wikia.
I know that pretty much none of the main requirements for adoption are fulfilled here (ShadoW was on the wiki eight days ago), but with a game so close to release, it is my opinion that the wiki needs a dedicated, consistent administrator/bureaucrat to keep things in line, even if it is just temporary until ShadoW starts to become active again. I've left messages on his user talk page, but he has yet to reply to them.
Thank you for taking the time to look over my request.

[edit] F1 Wiki (Accepted)
I would like to adopt the F1 Wiki. I have been working on the wiki for over 2 weeks along with a friend who has been helping. I would like admin capabilities to vastly expand what has already been started. --Gasheaduk 23:40, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
- Excellent work so far, Gasheaduk! Could you please create a welcome template and start using it to say hello to new users? If User:BananaCat is your friend you might not have felt the need to welcome him, but we feel that talking to new users is a really important part of being an admin. Once that's done I'll be happy to give you the admin tools. Thanks! — Catherine
(talk) 20:09, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
- I have added a welcome message to the Wiki and also added this to the Main Page. Please let me know if there is anything else that is needed. --Gasheaduk 20:36, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Kingdom Hearts PT (Accepted)
I would like to adopt the Kingdom Hearts PT http://pt.kingdomhearts.wikia.com/wiki/P%C3%A1gina_principal . The administrator is not active since 19 of September. I've created more than 20 pages here are all my contributions: http://pt.kingdomhearts.wikia.com/wiki/Especial:Contribui%C3%A7%C3%B5es/ZexionBrasil . I'm the only person writing on the wiki and active. I'm posting news on the site since yesterday. Before me there were only 4 articles and now there are 31 articles. zexionbrasil 16:58, 17 November 2008 (Gmt- 03:00)
- Great start, Zexion! Thanks for following the adoption guidelines. I have given you administrator rights. Please keep creating pages, and be sure to watch Especial:Mudanças_recentes and say hello when new users arrive -- this is very important to helping your wiki grow! Best of luck to you. — Catherine

[edit] TUGS Wiki (On hold)
I would like to become an admin for the TUGS wiki. It's been way more than 60 days, I've contributed well to the wiki, I've welcomed others on different sites. Really the site is in dire need for cleaning up and deleting some made up pages. I've improved a template. I would very like to help with the wiki. --Vitas 20:58, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Vitas,
- I see you've been working on the wiki for quite some time, you'll need to create 16 more new articles and continue your great work on expanding existing articles. Ensure to welcome new users as well, this is important to helping the wiki grow. Keep in mind there is a TUGS Fanon wiki available if you encounter that kind of content on the wiki. --CharitwoTalk 16:35, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Infinite Undiscovery wiki (On hold)
The current rules set up really do not work for this wiki as it is undermade and abaonded 2 months ago by the founder. I have made its existance known on GameFAQ and am asking pwople i know on wikipedia to help me finish the needed stuff like templates and whatnot. Waiting two weeks would be a waste of time as would the article limit as most would be tiny and underformed. --Jakezing2 22:30, 18 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hellos?--Jakezing2 01:43, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
- How inefficent--Jakezing2 16:11, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Jakezing2,
- The two weeks is a reasonable allotment in order for you to show us what kind of work you'd put in on the wiki. There is actually lots of work that can be done on inactive wikis as a regular contributor before adoption is needed. If you need help understanding any of the requirements, I'd be glad to answer any questions you might have. You'll need to work on the wiki for about a little over a week and a half more and create 18 more new articles and continue to expand existing articles. Ensure to welcome any of the contributors that you're trying to attract, this is important to building a strong and healthy community. If you need some good tips, the Wikia Help wiki has some good advice pages to get you inspired to build both content and community. Good luck. --CharitwoTalk 16:28, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- Yes lets create 18 more articles, who the hell decided that rule.--Jakezing2 18:29, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- According to the history of Template:Adoption description, it was CatherineMunro. However, I must advice you to calm down. --Michaeldsuarez (Talk) (Deeds) 18:38, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- Yes lets create 18 more articles, who the hell decided that rule.--Jakezing2 18:29, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- How inefficent--Jakezing2 16:11, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- how many more to go.--Jakezing2 13:15, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
- I've checked your edit count on that wiki, you've currently got over 13 mainspace edits so you'll need five more articles being created. Dark Obsidian 13:32, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Jakezing2, the guidelines were put in place to make sure that people were really interested in working on the topic, not just looking for a new "badge" to wear. If a person is not willing to work on a wiki for two weeks, or to help build new content, then we don't feel they are reliable or interested enough to be a good administrator. The new pages will only be "tiny and underformed" if that's the way you make them, since building good articles is not something that requires admin rights. Please show us what you're capable of and we will be happy to hand out the tools. — Catherine

[edit] starshiptroopers.wikia.com
Hello. I have been editing a wikia called starshiptroopers.wikia.com for over two months now. The wiki was basicly abandoned when I began editing and so far I have done the vast majority of the> editing along with one other person on it, and have completely reorganised it to make the site much easier to access and to understand. I have added dozens of new pages to it and where possible tried to reuse pages already set up from about a year ago (i believe). Currently there are only two people actively editing this wikia of which I am one , and I have done the vast amount of editing on it (neither of us are admistrators however have been working together to improve the site, and keep in regular contact). I have added three links to the main page so as to keep diffent universes (if that would be the correct word) of Starship Troopers appart ie I added a film section, a tv section, and a section for the Novel. I wondering if it could be made possible for me to adopt this wikia as I am wanting to improve it further and make it look more attractive so hopefully to be able to draw. I dont edit on any other wiki. Thankyou very much. VARGR 00:10, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, VARGR!
- It looks like you've done some excellent work on this wiki. I'm impressed with all the new content you've created and expanded upon in the last two weeks. As you mentioned, JustPhil is also contributing to the wiki. You should get with him and see what he thinks about a new admin for the wiki, whether it be you, him, or even both of you. I'm sure staff will have no problem with either of these choices, you've both put some good work into the wiki. --CharitwoTalk 16:46, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Charitwo.
- I've just spoken to Justphil on msn a few minutes ago and we are both intrested in gaining admin status for this wiki. Do I just say to you here or is there anywhere I need to go? Thanks VARGR 19:04, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- http://starshiptroopers.wikia.com/wiki/User_talk:VARGR We have both agreed to it and written it here. Thanks VARGR 22:31, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Sonic News Network PT (On hold)
Hi there. I would like to adopt the abandoned portuguese Sonic News Network, since there aren't any active beaurucrats ou adiministrator for many months. I've been creating new pages and editing existing ones, but I would like to have admin tools to turn this wiki more well known, with a more attractive look and to fix some misleading information that I can't change as a normal user. Greatly appreciated. Alexrd 15:53, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
- You've got a great start on the wiki, and there doesn't seem to be anyone else working on it right now. Please keep working for another week or so, and keep creating new pages. You can also create a user page for yourself, and create a welcome template at http://pt.sonic.wikia.com/wiki/Predefinição:Welcome (or at the Portuguese word for "Welcome"), so that when new users arrive you are prepared to say hello to them. Please keep up the good work and we will give you the admin tools soon. — Catherine

[edit] Dead Space wiki (On hold)
I'm requesting adminship on the Dead Space wiki. The previous admin (MasterM) hasn't answered the message I left them on their talk page. I've made many edits and overall expanded many pages on the wiki, and added a link to wikipedia to increase traffic (Yes, it was that unknown). There are only a few active users (5 or so) and an admin is needed. I haven't had a discussion on adminship because there isn't really an active community. I've also begun welcoming new contributors.
