[edit] Question

This prick actually makes me wonder - are we allowed to require login in order to edit, and if we did so:

  • Could we allow IP editing to continue in the Talk and DigimonWiki Talk sections?
  • Could we have a notice for IP editors, when they try to press "Edit", to either log-in or to discuss their proposed edits on the article's talk page?

While we do get some good IP edits, the great majority of them are either vandalism, or incorrect.

I know I could just continuously ban and revert this guy, and I know it's inappropriate to think like this, but I'm really interested in learning how to prove him utterly wrong. Not even Mr. Lister's Koromon survived intact. 22:02, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Wiki Adoption

Will someone please give a yes or no on the wiki adoption page. Elbutler 12:48, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

I'll let someone know to take a look at that request, but all requests are handled on the request page now. also please dont spam your reminder to multiple peoples talk pages, it only leads to confusion on who is working on that request. --Uberfuzzy 15:30, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Dafoxdude

Remember how I said I needed check user work done? Since the discussion was removed, I will just post here. Did you block his IP yet? As you know, he recently vandalized the wiki again. Isn't there anything that we can do to prevent him from editing? --Bigd56 | Talk 19:12, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

i sent you an email regarding that matter, his original IP was blocked, this new one was using a different ip entirely. I'm watching out for any further activity by him and will take appropriate actions if it occurs again. --Uberfuzzy 19:36, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Help on the Smash Wiki

I know you asked for the comments to be left on the talk page they were posted on, but I really can't risk the reactions of some of the more immature users seeing this request. Anyway, I have strong reasons to believe that there are a good number of sockpuppets on the Smash Wiki. Could you check the users in each horizontal row against each other. Thanks in advance.

thats fine, i understand. i have to run out the door, i'll be back online later tonight, i'll contact you if i find anything. --Uberfuzzy 18:04, 23 October 2008 (UTC)
None of them matched. Keep in mind, if they were using one account at home, and another at a library/school/friends house... we have no way of knowing it was the same person. A few of them had many different IP's associated with the name, so they might have been using a proxy or anonymizer service of some sort also. --Uberfuzzy 21:48, 23 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the help before. I have another two users to run through. I'm almost certain by their contributions that they are the same person. CHOP STICKS showed right after I blocked Squallinoa 08 and began to edit the exact pages that an argument over got him a two week block for. If you could confirm that they are the same user, that would be great. Or if you could find out, like you said before, if there is a good chance that he is running an anonymizer. Thank. [edit] About the filter of ''Freely I fly''

Hello. I'm Tcshek from EVCHK.

Excuse me, I found that the word " ''Freely I fly'' " was wrongly filtered. Can you help me to check them out and fix them? Thanks for your help. --Tcshek 12:59, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks your effort for anti-vandalism of EVCHK.
However we still need your help for check these guys' IP:

And someone's name like that.
I know these guys may from IP 129.94.*.* (as Community Team member KaurJmeb said.) I block these range IPs for EVCHK, but it seems no effect for preventing new vandalism.
Moreover, I know there are several changes of Group Rights. It seems a temporary way, but it should not be permanent.

--疾風綾希 14:22, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

I've already removed that from the filter, it was a temporary solution. I'm looking into why the blocking system is still allowing those names. --Uberfuzzy 18:08, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
The blocks are in place, and should be working, they might have been affected by the recent server problems. I can only do so much as i cannot read the language of the wiki (Chinese?) and online translators only do so much. Something else that you can do to help is check on the reports in w:c:evchk:Special:ProblemReports --Uberfuzzy 18:39, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
I think we should contact KaurJmeb to ask for solution, but she isn't on duty.--Tcshek 06:30, 27 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Monaco footer

Remember?
Remember?

Hi, a few months ago, I asked you, how to edit that area at the bottom of the articles. Have you found out yet? KrazyKatTalk to me! 02:24, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

And months ago, i told you, you cant. the most you can do is change a couple MediaWiki: pages to change some of the text, but most is hardcoded. --Uberfuzzy 02:52, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Ok, what are the names of the MediaWiki: pages to change the text??? KrazyKatTalk to me! 06:03, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Here is some of them that i could find quickly. I'm not sure if changing these will override the text shown on your wiki
MediaWiki:footer_1	"Improve $1 by", $1 will be replaced by SITENAME
MediaWiki:footer_1.5	"editing this page"
MediaWiki:footer_5	"$1 made an edit on $2", $1 being the username of the last editor, $2 being last edit date
MediaWiki:footer_9	"Rate this article" the text next to the stars
MediaWiki:footer_6	"View random page"

Though, i do strongly suggest against changing these texts, it could lead to problems navigating the wiki. --Uberfuzzy 06:22, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for all your help. Sorry to bug you so much. KrazyKatTalk to me! 06:31, 3 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Vandalism on the URSW

Hello, I was wondering if your could block all of the vandals on the UnRuneScape Wiki. I just dealt with two of them just a few minutes ago. Since I don't not have sysops powers (yet), I was wondering if you could help. Thank you for your time. Spencemac724 Talk 04:44, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

Done. --Uberfuzzy 05:03, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Restoring my User page

Hi UberFuzzy

First of all, thanks for deleting that Nazi bastard that was vandalising all the pages, I was the one that reported it.

Second of all, he vandalised my user page, with a hilarious witty comment that I am a homosexual, so I just deleted it and now there's nothing on my User Page. Is there anyway to restore what I had on it before he came and vandalised it? And also, is there anyway to block other users editing your own user page?

Cheers, User:SuperJosh

no problem, sorry i didnt see it sooner, i've reverted your page back to the last version before the vandal. as for that type or protection, as far as i know, thats not possible in mediawiki currently --Uberfuzzy 14:17, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

Thanks very much.

[edit] Thanks

Hey, its exlonox from Burnopedia. Just wanted to thank you for all of your help. Exlonox 17:30, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

no problem, just keep making a great wiki, and it will be worth it. feel free to leave me a message there on burnopedia if you or anyone else needs anything. --Uberfuzzy 17:33, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Blocked Again on SmashWiki

Hey Uberfuzzy, it's MG. Like the section title says, I've been blocked again. I was blocked maybe, half an hour to an hour ago, but I didn't want to contact Central Wikia to see if SmashWiki sysops could help. They apparently aren't around right now. Anyway, my Block ID is on my SmashWiki talk page, so can you unblock me when you have the time? MarioGalaxy {talk} 02:48, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] New admin is needed for Hungarian Star Wars Wiki

Hi. As the original admin for the hungarian star wars wiki site (http://hu.starwars.wikia.com/wiki/) has been missing for a long time our small group of users decided to elect a new admin for the site for practical reasons (vandalism, development, etc.). We tried to solve the problem by leaving a message at help desk, where others suggested to ask someone of the wikia staff to set that rights. Our elected user for the new admin is Kamocsaip. Thx, Bikov 11:53, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Widgets in Hungarian

Dear Uberfuzzy! We need to translate thr widgets in the Hungarian Spamwiki. When someone choose the Manage widgets option, a blue lane appear on the top of the screen. The text of the line is in English, we like to translate them. Thank you; --blogadmin vita 13:44, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

hmm, i dont know that one right now, but i can go look it up, i'll get back to you shortly --Uberfuzzy 14:11, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
It seems that right now, the description text is hard coded into the code for the widgets. You can translate them and submit the translated text and I'll see about getting someone to add the hu text to the code. I'll also try to get that text moved to a system where it can be translated for everyone, but that will take some time. When you have the translated text, please email it to community@wikia.com --Uberfuzzy 18:43, 19 November 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Userboxes

FFXIclopedia blocked at work, so answering here. If you goto a Userbox:Foo page it will give you the option to add it to your profile page. You can also goto another userpage with userboxes and click them and the userbox will turn into a radio button thingy asking if you want to add it. Both of these use javascript to work. --CharitwoTalk 20:39, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

yeah... been trying all sorts of ways, the message says they are added, and even sometimes get presented with a menu to remove them, but they dont actually show up on the page. i thought i might have been because of ffxi's broken javascript, but i fixed that (shake gani for me btw), but still no dice. --Uberfuzzy 21:56, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
Your edit summaries are funny fuzzy. It might be a bug, social tools are so shaky. --CharitwoTalk 22:28, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
yeah, figures as much, just wanted to be sure it wasnt something i wasnt turning on/doing before i filed something, i never played with the social userboxes too much. --Uberfuzzy 22:30, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
