[edit] Spanish language edition of Memory Alpha

Hi, Angela.
I would like to know when the database for the Spanish language edition of Memory Alpha will be opened. I read at Memory Alpha that creating a database could take a week... but I've requested this new Wiki on March 6.
Sincerely yours,
CUADRADO ORTIZ, Juan Carlos
Lima, Friday, March 17, 2006.

[edit] Blocked the wrong person

Angela, I've made a real blunder at Stargate Wikicity and I can't find the way to undo the damage. I've blocked the user Mindspillage (twice), but he was the one who undoed the bad edits made by other. I don't how it happened, but I nead help to correct it, if it's possible. Please tell me how to correct it, so I can learn. Peter R 06:37, 17 March 2006 (UTC) (or rather stargate:User:Pjotr'k

Mindspillage is staff, and can unblock themselves if needed. To unblock, go to stargate:Special:Ipblocklist (found in Special:Specialpages) on that wiki to find a list of blocks with unblock links. Splarka 06:47, 17 March 2006 (UTC)
I've left you a message on your Stargate talk page. No worries. :-) Mindspillage (spill yours?) 06:58, 17 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] AliceSoft.wikicities, admin request

Hi Angela,

I'm the founder of AliceSoft.wikicities, and I would like to have access to delete pages and modify system messages. Thanks. -Afker 08:09, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

Ok. I'll set that now. Angela (talk) 08:12, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
Ooo thanks for the efficiency. BTW, on a diff subject, if I want to remove the history of an article, is the only way to do it via deleting the article (copying current content over to a safe place to be restored later of course)? -Afker 08:17, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
Yes. Angela (talk) 08:29, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] interwiki

Angela, I have a request for a new interwiki at wikimedia:meta:Talk:Interwiki map#Individual_wikis_within_Wikicities.3F for linking to the wikis hosted by wikicities. Can you see of the proposed link is technical correct and that the name is acceptable? Reponds there please, I do not realy come here. Walter 12:48, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

I've replied there. Thanks for asking me about it. Angela (talk) 06:19, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Request for admin status

Hi, Angela. I'm having lots of fun here! I'm seeking admin status for the english version of "Constitution". I'm not saying it's been abandoned, but it seems to have been a bit 'dry' for a couple of months now, and I cannot find the one who relaunched it in English back in December to ask for admin status. I'd love to take it under my wing and help it grow. Thanks! Nhprman 04:55, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

Ok. I'll make you an admin there now. Angela (talk) 06:19, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
You're awesome. Thanks! Nhprman 06:22, 20 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nonsensopedia rights removal

We are writing due to recent administration changes in our Wiki "Nonsensopedia". Founder of this wiki, Yossarian has been inactive since 5th of November. Yossarian gave us an oral permission to remove him as a founder of this wiki. He also claims that he cannot access his account, because he has forgotten his password, and he isn't interested in further cooperation with us on improving Nonsensopedia.

On "Nonsensopedia" IRC channel, administrators have discussed this issue and voted for removing his administrator rights. Unanimously this application passed, so we want to remove those rights to don't make a illusion, that he's still active and hard working.

Here are the voting results (only in polish).

Sincerely, Nonsensopedia Administrators

Representative of Nonsensopedia, Szoferka 15:22, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

Ok, I'll remove his admin rights. However, if he changes his mind, he can get a new password by clicking the "email new password" button on Special:Userlogin. Angela (talk) 01:43, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
Thank you. Szoferka 07:12, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Encyclopedia of Virtual Celebrities in Hong Kong

Hi Angela,

I'm the founder of the wikicity. Is it possible to change the sitename from English to Chinese? Because most user in this site are familiar with Chinese. If possible, please change it to 香港網絡大典 .

thanks

No problem. I'll do that now. Sorry, I can't do this. I'll ask Jasonr to. Angela (talk) 08:45, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] I need sysop...ness

Hey. I'm still Seriously. Anyway, can I have the sysop privileges back? I need to do a lot of standardizing, and I can't unless I'm a sysop. — Seriously | Talk | Contributions 22:42, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

What do you mean by standardizing? Angela (talk) 22:51, 22 March 2006 (UTC)
I need to help with the mediawiki: Sidebar. Since all mediawiki pages are protected, I can't. I also have to make some pages that begin with mediawiki: for stuff. — Seriously | Talk | Contributions 12:18, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
Look, I figured that if I actually had my sysop privileges removed, I would at least have the power to get them back when I'm ready. Someday, when all the strong bad emails are done, maybe then I'll become a sysop. Doesn't that mean I can have them back when I want? Anyway, I looked at my contribs. I have actually done more than anyone else, I can safely say. It's not like I dont't deserve 'em. — Seriously | Talk | Contributions 00:32, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
Ok, but please be careful. Community consensus should be sought on anything you're doing requiring admin access. Angela (talk) 00:39, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
Sweet. Thank ye. 69.162.201.219

[edit] Please get rid of the AIDS dissent wikicity

It is dead and redundant. Even worse, it's interfering with our google rankings. Thank you. Revolver 04:57, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

I've emailed Jason to ask him to close it. Angela (talk) 00:39, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wiki

Do you know other free MediaWiki services that offer creating wikis, but for smaller communities? Please, answer in my user talk. Merci. Michał P. 14:34, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

You can use scratchpad: for smaller communities. Otherwise, see the list of hosts at Wikibooks. Angela (talk) 00:39, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] another problem in http://evchk.wikicities.com/

Hi Angela,

If a user who has not logged in copy texts from the wikicity, something like "Wikipedia, a free encyclopedia" appears in the target text. This doesn't affects logged in users. Could you change it to "香港網絡大典 - http://evchk.wikicities.com/" ?

thanks

Hi, I've fixed this. The page you needed to change was w:c:evchk:MediaWiki:Tagline. That's the page non-logged in users see, while logged in users see a page specific to the language they have set in their preferences. -- sannse (talk) 09:28, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Petiton

Dear Angela
We're writing to you with very important case. Recently we have increasingly number of vandals, devastating articles. Most of them are unregistered users behind changing IP's (Polish internet provider, Neostrada, have "IP roulette" option).
That's why we want to occur to you with request to block an edit option for unregistered users on our wikicity, what, I think, will decrease number of vandalisms.
I hope you'll take this up as quick as you can.
Representative of Nonsensopedia Wikicity, Hani.MD 13:44, 24 March 2006 (UTC).

I'll reply at nonsensopedia. Angela (talk) 13:56, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
Thank you, we'll try to use range blocks. Szoferka 14:23, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Namespace

I'm sorry。 I am a Japanese junior high school student. I am not good at English. I want to make a new namespace in my Wiki. I saw the article on the namespace of Meta. can I rewrite localsettings.php? Or, do other methods exist?4B3 15:53, 25 March 2006 (UTC)

Changing localsettings.php is the only way to do that. Please let me know what new namespace you want and I can create it for you. See Help:Custom namespaces. Angela (talk) 02:35, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
Please forgive my carelessness. And, please forgive my English not good. (My English is a machine translation.) I think about the necessity of new namespaces and will request it. Thank you for your quick answer. My best regards in the future. --4B3 13:06, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
There's no need to apologise. Your English is much better than my Japanese (あなたの英国は私の日本人より大いによくある。) even with machine translation. :) Angela (talk) 13:08, 26 March 2006 (UTC)
Thank you! I will work hard at the study of English!--4B3 15:02, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bionicle Wiki

Please destroy my Bionicle wiki. It is completely pointless, there is another one on the web that is so much better than mine. I am currently running a Code Lyoko wiki elsewhere, and do not like Bionicle anymore, and do not want to keep contributing to my wiki. I was the only user anyways. Please delete it, I want to never see it again! Please! KFan II 00:11, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

If you don't want to be involved, you don't need to be, but I think the wiki has a lot of potential, and more users might come there in future, so I'll leave it open for them, but don't feel like you have to take responsiility for it if you don't want to. Angela (talk) 04:05, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

But Angela, the Bionicle wiki not associated with Wikia that can be found here has so many users and is known as the "big Bionicle wiki". Everybody attends there. What's the point of Nuipedia? KFan II 22:15, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

That's a dead link. Which is a very good reason people should use Wikia and not rely on some website that is not stable and not guaranteed to exist a week later. Angela (talk) 06:32, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
He just typed the URL wrong, so I fixed it. Please don't insult our wiki, and say that wikia is so much better than it, we have members that work very hard for it and spend much of their time on it. I think you should respect his wishes and delete Nuipedia.--Bioncicleman of BS01
I wasn't insulting your website (you made it look like that by editing his comment to point to a different URL). I was saying the link he gave was dead. Often people host wikis on personal sites that are not guaranteed to be there in future. If people from your wiki stopped harrassing him and vandalising the Bionicle wiki, he probably wouldn't be asking for it to be closed. It's a shame the copyright policy on your wiki is so unclear or we could share content between the two rather than needing to argue about which wiki is best. People wanting to edit and create free bionicle content as part of the wider Wikia community will continue to be welcome to do so. Angela (talk) 04:54, 31 March 2006 (UTC)
I'm really sorry about the vandallism, I spoke to the wiki about it and it won't happen again. The problem is that Nuipedia isn't linked from the Bionicle page on wikipedia and probably never will be. We aren't either, but we are in an indirect way under BS01. I'm just saying that Nuipedia will probably go unoticed under our wiki, not that ours is better or anything. Oh, and by the way, I don't own the wiki, I'm just a member.--Bioncicleman of BS01
No, he doesn't own the Wiki, I do. I apologize for their attitude, sometimes I cannot control what they do outside of the Wiki. I do control what KFanII does, and he just vandalized my wiki. Granted, it deserved it when the members vandalized the pages, but it's just wrong to do it to a purchased website that is hosted on its own server, not through a parent site. I'll have the members stop (who already have) and not do it again. Thanks for understanding. --Swert, Co-Owner of BS01
True indeed Swert. I apologise on behalf of myself and user Killer Frost. - Bioran23, Moderator of BS01 Wiki

[edit] Popular pages doesn't work at all

In evchk.wikia.com, all articles displays (0 views) in popular pages. Could you fix it for me?

It won't work because we can't track page views due to the way the site is cached. The link to popular pages should be removed since the data is gives is not accurate and won't ever be. See bug:289. Angela (talk) 05:35, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Another petition from Nonsensopedia

Dear Angela,
We’re writing to you (again) in very important case.
Last time on our wikia, Nonsensopedia, we had some problems with our administrators. Because of this, one of our admins, Kondzio15, resigned his administrator rights and abandoned Nonsensopedia. Here’s his statement. In translation, it means: In 25th of March 2006 I’d resigned of being administrator on Nonsensopedia. I don’t give a damn, what you’re gonna do with this.
Administrators of Nonsensopedia had voted in this case. You can find this poll here. As you can see, unanimously he’s out. And here’s our request: We want you to take administrator rights from Kondzio15 as soon as you can.
Another one: Our other administrator, Lolek, is negligent. He were’nt on Nonsensopedia from couple of months. We wanted to take away from him his admins rights, so we’ve voted again. Results are here. We want you to take his rights too, if it isn’t a problem for you.
We hope that you can understand us and you’ll make this things as quick, as you can.
Representative of Nonsensopedia, Hani.md.

This is now done. Angela (talk)
I'm not so sure. You haven't taken administrator rights from Lolek. Read carefully the petition above, if You want to. Hani.MD 11:17, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
But Lolek was editing just a couple of weeks ago. What harm is there to him keeping his adminship? No other projects remove adminship just because someone was away for a couple of weeks. I am very concerned that you will drive off dedicated users if you have this sort of policy of removing rights from them when they have not abused those rights. Wikia sites are supposed to be open to everyone and adminship is simply something given to trusted users. Angela (talk) 12:37, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
Hi Angela. First of all sorry for my english. I'll try to explain why we got politic of quick removing admin rights from an inactive user. Nonsensopedia community is very young and still very small. The youngest admin is 15, and the oldest is 22. We got 10 admins. Except of them there's maybe 10 users who are active and interested in expanding project and who really know how to make that kind of encyclopedia.
Most of edits on Nonsensopedia are accidental. We got a plague of embarrassing edits referended to our local grandpha celebrities, like Andrzej Lepper (en), Tadeusz Rydzyk (en) and the biggest curse, Chuck Norris and his roundhouse kick. Furthermore whe got a lot of oldest arcticles where may be some content about private persons. Most of accidental ip user thinks that in Nonsensopedia they can write about they friends, enemies, teatchers or local stars like hobos and old mans. Whe got a lot of desolated articles to.
Earlier, when Nonsensopedia starts, founder, Yossarian, brings to the situation of total anarchy, and when he's gone, anarchy has grown without any control. Maybe six weeks ago we complete a group of people who wants to transformate Nonsensopedia into a really good encyclopedia. When we asking to remove some right, we'll try to release place for new person becouse we affraid of restrictions relative to number of admins owing to an article in wikicity. Is there any restrictions? We are trying to optymalize our work and workplace. We are just in the begining of forming Nonsensopedia. Sorry for boring. Szoferka 01:39, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
There is no limit to the number of admins you can have. If there are problems with vandalism, it would be best to have as many trusted users as possible be admins so that they can help with reverting that. Angela (talk) 04:15, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Help

How do I get a logo for my Wikia called War. Thank you. General Eisenhower 23:37, 29 March 2006 (UTC)

Create a 150x150 pixel (or less) PNG file of what you want as your logo, and upload it to filename Wiki.png (example: Image:Wiki.png). Splarka 03:23, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
  • I tried to get War Wikia's logo the image below but I can't. Can you do it for me because I'm stumped. Tell me when you completed it on my talk page. Thank you. Star Wars' Wiki 23:19, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Please help me!

Angela, I visited my wiki, Nuipedia, and found out that a bunch of users from the Bionicle Sector 01 Wiki had vandalized it! Now all of my pages have been destroyed! Please help me! I banned a bunch of them for infinite time, but it's just too much for me to handle! What should I do? KFan II 20:56, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Don't worry. I'll fix it now. Angela (talk) 23:38, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
I'm sorry about this KFan II, I spoke to some of the members on BS01 that it was not right to do so. It won't happen again.--Bioncicleman of BS01

[edit] Yes

Thank you. After I requested Yugipedia, I found that Wikia already has a Wikia about Yu-Gi-Oh. I'm thinking of requesting a Wikia called countries, now. Star Wars' Wiki 22:45, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

There is a wiki for places at cities, so perhaps the content you're thinking of could go there. Angela (talk) 03:03, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Angela!

The vandalism on Nuipedia continues! They're even calling me very rude names! Is there any way to stop members of BS01 from vandalizing pages? Many pages now only have swear words on them! Please stop this madness! KFan II 15:34, 1 April 2006 (UTC)

I'm really sorry about this KFan II, I already reverted the vandallsim there. Man, I feel like I am two sides. Also, please do not vandallise again on BS01. You were upset when people vandallised Nuipedia, what makes us different.--Bioncicleman of BS01
Don't let it worry you. Vandalism is very easy to revert, and if you don't want to do it, someone else will help. You obviously need to stop vandalising their wiki as well. Perhaps you could suggest to them that they collaborate rather than needing to see this as a competition. Angela (talk) 02:24, 2 April 2006 (UTC)
There are two problems with your proposition, Angela. First of all, the members of BS01 wiki will not listen to anything he says because they know who he is and what he has done(not that all of it is bad). Even if they were to agree with him, he has a two year block for the vandallism he did, and by then he will not even care about it. Alot can happen in two years.--Bioncicleman of BS01
I have to agree with Bionicleman. He vandalised my Wiki, in a deliberate attempt for retaliation, but my CVU team took care of the mess, and he was blocked for 2 years. I would have made it longer, but I didn't think it needed to be any more than it is. The main problem I have with KFan is he's vandalised so much of my Wiki, and this wasn't even the beginning of it. He started it 6 months ago when we were new, and then he left because all the information he provided was inaccurate, incorrect, and once more spam. He created his own Wiki, granted a Bionicle Wiki wasn't here to begin with, but then he proceeded to fill it up with more spam. My members did what they did so that the Wiki could possibly be closed, and more false info could be closed. Oh, and hopes of people moving information back and forth through the Wikis is impossible... the BS01 Wiki doesn't have a GFDL. We cannot copyright (or copyleft) already copyrighted property, and we cannot simply make our own stuff just to settle the needs of the GFDL. Now, if you still think Nuipedia should stay online, that is your problem... but, I ask that you don't make it mine as well. -Swert, Co-Owner of Bionicle Sector 01
As far as I know, he has placed complete rubbish on both his and our wiki. I do not want to offend KFan II, but I must say that he knows NOTHING about Bionicle. That's my say, and goodbye, may we never meet again. - Bioran23, Moderator of BS01 Wiki

He knows some thing about BIONICLE, but he already said he doesn't like it anymore.--Bionicleman of BS01

[edit] The Babylon Project

I was wondering about the current status of the Bablyon Project Wiki and if I could have Admin access to it. I would like to build up this wiki and would appreciate your help. You can contact me at darthxor@gmail.com.

Do you have a username? You're welcome to start editing the wiki and you can do that even without a username. Once you've made some edits and decided to log in, I can give you admin access. Angela (talk) 02:24, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Big Problem

I have a big problem. It's about cretaing the new Wikia. I requested one on Kentucky but I'll never know if my Wikis was ever created because nobody can e-mail me. I don't have an e-mail adress. Please tell me when the administrators created it because I'll never have any way of knowing. Honest Abe 21:08, 2 April 2006 (UTC)

I've left you a message at wikicities:c:kentucky:User talk:Honest Abe. Angela (talk) 03:42, 3 April 2006 (UTC)
Now that I have a new Wikia, I'll be able to create more. Honest Abe 21:34, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Adminship on a semi-inactive wiki

I seem to be the only user (other than you, User:Splarka and a bot) to be contributing to ShoppingWiki: (since the start of 2006). This is probably temporary, and will change when the wiki gets some publicity, but it means there's nobody to answer a RfA. Can I become an admin so I can delete some pages after an upcoming merge, and carry out successful VfAs and VfDs in the future? Seahen 16:02, 3 April 2006 (PDT)

Also, could ShoppingWiki: have a Portal namespace? I'd like to make graphical front ends for some categories, and a portal namespace would be the logical place. Seahen 23:12, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

Update: This duplicates an e-mail I sent on the contact form.
I've replied at w:c:User talk:Seahen. Angela (talk) 02:47, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Adminship on pl.fantasy

Hi Angela. On pl.fantasy one guy is coping articles from Nonsensopedia, most of them are about politicans. I assume that's some child. Founder on this wiki has 4 edits and he has be gone for 6 weeks now. I would be mostly pleased if you granted me a admin rights, thus I could clean up that wiki and improve it technically. I'm looking forward for your reply here. Szoferka 20:47, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

I've made you an admin and bureaucrat there. Good luck cleaning up the wiki. Angela (talk) 06:08, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
Thank you very much. Szoferka 23:50, 7 April 2006 (PDT)

[edit] Homestar Parody Wiki

User:Seriously has gone crazy. He blocked me for 1 year because he didn't like me. He deleted an IP address type account that had no dots so it was an actual user. He yelled at me because I undeleted something. And he IS A TROLL ON OTHER WIKIS!The thing Talk 15:20, 6 April 2006 (PDT)

Angela, please let me explain so that my reputation on all wikis isn't completely ruined. I blocked The thing because of his overall immaturity and defiance to comply with the standards. He has gossipped about me cruelly, too. I am majorly offended by this. That alon should be should be considered a personal attack, enough to remove him of his adminship. But that's not where it ends. There was a troll named Trollbrother2 way back when. He was finally blocked permanently for his trolling. Sadly, The thing would not put up with it, so we finally had to settle with his babyish immaturity and agree to three months. Just now, he unblocked him. He has a major ego problem if he thinks he can do something big like that when the community consensus disagreed. Finally, the IP address should consider creating an account. He already has, and soon his userpage will be deleted. There is no problem. I hope I have explained our predicament adequately, and I wish you good luck with your future endeavors. — Seriously | Talk | Contributions 22:44, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
Come on guys, you've got to work this out. The Thing, you need to listen to, and talk to, the other people on the Wikia. If everyone disagrees with you, then you need to be able to go along with them - even if it's not something you want to do. Blocking each other is not a good way to work out your disputes. Seriously, it's not a good idea to block IPs that are trying to contribute. If they are not understanding how you do things, then try talking to them about it. The same with encouraging people to make an account - try persuading them, it may cause a lot less problems.
On IP user pages, you need to work this policy out between the two of you and the rest of the community. If all of you agree, then fine. The idea that someone came up with of redirecting IP user pages to their talk page seems a very good compromise. You have a potentially good Wikia here, with lots of possible users to join you. You have both made edits in the past that you might want to forget now, so I suggest you both move on from that and make this Wikia a good place to be for everyone. Thanks for listening. -- sannse (talk) 09:14, 7 April 2006 (UTC)
Well, for the record, I don't think anyone redirercted the IP to his talk page—I believe that The thing redirected the IP userpage to the same thing, but without dots. I find it sensible for him to create an account—it would not only make him a legal user in my eyes, but it would delete all of this controversy. This is all utterly obsolete, however—as The thing just said he quit. For some reason. Of course, he's donbe this multiple times, and he always comes back. Ah well. — Seriously | Talk | Contributions 11:18, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

We should get an Arbitration Committee!--M Johnson 23:23, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] www.desencyclopedie.com

Can you give me a time frame as to when you will make the default URL of Desencyclopedie to www.desencyclopedie.com? I gave you the domain name about 3 weeks ago, and it's still laying unused as a parked domain. It should be a simple thing, really, so I'm puzzled as to the holdup. Thanks! --Philo 09:52, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

I've no idea. I've asked Jason to contact you about this. Angela (talk) 06:08, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
I see it's working now. Many thanks, and sorry for the nagging. :) --Philo 12:06, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Command & Conquer wikis

The reason that there are only a few pages is that I haven't got round to announcing it to the Command & Conquer fan community yet, becuase I have been busy lately. I think it could be broadened some time in the future, but right at the moment I just want to see how it gets on with just the tiberian universe.

I don't see any harm in letting people add other topics since this is supposed to be the cnc wiki, not just the tiberian wiki. Angela (talk) 06:08, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Problem

Hi! The URL on this page[2] does not exist.

Thanks for pointing it out. It should have been http://zlo.wikia.com. Angela (talk) 15:07, 8 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Active Mini Wikis?

How do you define active - i.e. how do we (Sandbox/MyraPedia:Home) enter the 'active' list? Already we have more entries than some listed. I've got the first four people to edit it and the first 80something articles in "Category:Myra" Our old paper encyclopedia on Myra (which has 15,000 pages printed in books and magazines, and has its entry in de.wikipedia) has 3000 entries on the letters A-D alone, so I expect the MyraPedia will merit its own Wiki someday soon... Any advice? Gwyndon 10:24, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your answer. I've put up a request for a full Wiki :-) Gwyndon 12:32, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Nuipedia

Hello Angela. I am an admin of the Bionicle Wiki, BS01 Wiki, and after reading about the competition back and forth, I have some bones to pick with you. You need to know when to stop and give things up. Nuipedia was created originally to compete with BS01 Wiki, as K Fan was once a member of our wiki. But after spamming up the site with incorrect information, he was blocked, stormed off, and created this to try and get revenge. Like Bionicleman and Swert had already said, just please respect his wishes, as it is HIS wiki. Also, no offense, but Nuipedia will never thrive, simply of the fact that there is another one that has been up longer. You might think that vandalism is ok and easy to revert (which it is) but it's simply downgrading and rude (from both sides). And I don't see how through all this you still wish that the two wiki's will collaborate and work together. As human beings we have perceptions, and we learn from expierence. Meaning it would never work out. Please respect all of our wishes and delete Nuipedia.

On another note: "Often people host wikis on personal sites that are not guaranteed to be there in future." BZPower has been up and running for at least 3 years and will continue to do so. How do we know that Wikia will stay up that long?

Bottom line is: It will never work out so just delete it. If you want it "to be open for others to edit" then just tell those people to come to BS01.--84.40.25.240 21:38, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

It is not his wiki. Wikia will continue to provide wikis for people who want to create free content (clearly licensed under the GFDL so it is compatible with Wikipedia, unlike most other wikis) within a single site where they have the benefit of single login with 1000 wikis and in future the benefits of improved software (Wikia has just received $4million to develop this site). I realise there will be other sites offering wikis on similar topics, but as long as those are not hosted by Wikimedia, there is no reason for us to close our wikis just because there may be overlap. It's like asking Google not to bother indexing pages about Lego because Yahoo already do that. If people want to use Google, they expect all sites to be indexed by them regardless of what other companies are offering. I don't see why you have such an issue about there being another wiki on this topic. If you're worried about it competing, perhaps you should ask Wikia to host your wiki instead of trying to close down ours. Angela (talk) 21:50, 9 April 2006 (UTC)
It is not about the competition, we have no worry about that. It's just that Nuipedia has a lot of wrong information and we don't want Bionicle fans to get the wrong idea if they visit it. And no one from our wiki is going to correct it because they already have the BS01 Wiki. So this disproves your Google and Yahoo metaphor. If Google were to link to a site about Lego saying that Lego was around even in the 1800's, while Yahoo just indexes the official site, then that it the right metaphor. And by the way we don't need Wikia to host our wiki because it is hosted by BZPower, the biggest Bionicle-related forum site. So no need for competition, just the fact that the inaccurate information could mis-lead users--70.104.106.63 21:37, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
To add to this, I wouldn't move the Wiki anyway. We have over 900 articles, plus custom things. Also, if we were to move it, we'd have to sever ties with BZP because we would have an option of making our own rules and not follow theirs. As it stands, I don't want to pay the server price that they're paying for me, so I'm quite happy with where it is. --Swert, aka 70.58.69.213 00:20, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
It will not be nice to have BS01 Wiki moved anyways, as Swert mentioned, it is perfectly fine with where it is. And it will definitely cause arguments if it gets move to a strange server where something could always happen. - Bioran23, Moderator of BS01 Wiki
Also, Nuipedia is going to just sink into the depths of nothing, as KFan has abandoned it and there is a very small chance for someone else to find it. I find no competition in this; it is like comparing a boulder to a pebble. So in other words, please just delete it, no one is going to find it, and its just going to sit there saying the same thing every day, until you delete it, or till the end of the world, or wikia anyway. Now, I would like to tell the full story of KFan II and Nuipedia, from beginning to end. On December 26, 2005, KFan II joined our wiki, the BS01 Wiki. KFan II, judged the wiki "quite screwed up" and said, "It is obviously my job to fix it". He also called himself a "boy genius" and "ultimate resource when it comes to Bionicle." He went off and edited the wiki with incorrect info, for instance he put that (you won't know this since you aren't a fan, but this is incorrect info) Roodaka and Sidorak are visorak and Krekka was once a Toa. He also made the suggestion that we switch movie images with set images. Everyone disagreed, but he still did it anyway. This was the last straw for one member (I won't name him) as he went to KFan II and told him to stop. Bioran23 also agreed. KFan II got angry said "As usual. Everyone hates my contributions. Good bye" and stormed off. This part is harder to tell, but I'll do my best. KFan II then went off and formed his own wiki, obviously called Nuipedia on December 28th, a day after his time on BS01 Wiki. He filled this wiki with incorrect info as well, and said it was our compition. I actually found the wiki when browsing wikia, but I dismissed it, discovering that it had no hope to prove compition on our wiki. A few months later, Nuipedia could barely find any members, so on March 27, 2006 KFan II went to the Bionicle page on wikipedia, and added a link to his wiki. Currently, there was a big discussion over what fan sites could be on the page, when the admin who was arguing for some sites to be removed, instead of removing Nuipedia, kept it. Swert saw the wiki, and instead of what I did when I found it, he went scurrying to BS01 wiki and alerted us. I was amused when I read his plea, since I remembered finding it earlier. I however fought for the Nuipedia link to be removed, and with some help from Swert, managed to get the link to be removed. Even so, some members on our wiki, after finding out about Nuipedia, went on vandalizing his site. Okay, this is a really long post, so I'm going to brake it for now and continue in a different post.--Bionicleman of BS01
Okay, here's part two of the story. Anyways, after seeing the vandalism, KFanII blocked the users who vandalized. However, KFan II didn't know how to revert vandalism, so he asked Angela to do it. She gladly did so, and reverted all the vandalism. But KFan II got mad and returned to BS01. He committed vandalism, however our Counter Vandalism Unit managed to stop him and he was blocked for a lengthy two years. Then, some members returned to Nuipedia, and once again committed vandalism. I this time reverted the vandalism, and discovered that KFanII wanted the site to be deleted, but you won't delete it. And here we are today, trying to get you to delete Nuipedia. Besides KFanII doesn't even like BIONICLE any more. I hope you enjoyed my Novel, and maybe it will change your mind. Oh, and by the way, this wasn't ment to flame KFanII or Nuipedia, it was meant to see the big picture, and not just from one point of view since some members have some misconseptions.--Bionicleman of BS01
There's still no reason to delete it. Either other people will find it, in which case at some point someone will take the time to improve it, or they will not find it, and it will not matter. Sector 01 is indeed a far larger and better wiki, but your copyright policy (which, ironically, I can't link to because the site has been spam-blocked) is one reason to have an alternate site available. It seems very confusing - I'm pretty sure you don't have the right to allow people to copy stuff onto other websites, whether they mention you or not, without some form of license. Indeed, you say specifically on your edit pages that you don't have ownership of the things people write. The people who wrote the text are the only one to have that right, and since you never obtained it from them you can't give it to other people. --GreenReaper(talk) 20:54, 18 April 2006 (UTC)
I'm not going to argue about the copywrite, as I did not write it and don't really get it, I'll let Swert explain it. However, no one is really going to find it since Bionicle Sector 01 has fans from other BIONICLE sites, so in other words unless they are from an obscure web site (or no web site), are on wikia, and browsing through the wikis and find Nuipedia, no one is going to find it. For an analogy, lets say there are two museums, both of which are about Aberham Lincoln. Now that would be fine, since people who live near one museum will go to that one and others will go to the other one. But, if you make it like how this is, it would be like one museum says that Lincoln was a twentieth century pop star, and is only run by it's currator. Now then, lets say the currator decides that he dislikes Lincoln and leaves the museum. Now we have an empty mueseum, with no one there and no one to improve it. Now lets say that the museum is in an obscure location, and hard to find. Now do you think that the museum should close or stay open, just to leave dust? Obvisly it should be closed.--Bionicleman of BS0122:38, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Excellent change!

I like the name change from wikicities to Wikia!!! So much better, cleaner, shorter and sweeter!!! I really love your whole concept! This is what the web is supposed to be about! Even more so than WikiPedia. Thanks for giving us this technology! Paisano® 12:56, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

I'm pleased you think so! :) Angela (talk) 14:47, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
I sure do! By the way, I just submitted a request to begin a new wiki for my favorite movie of all-time, It's a wonderful life. I hope it gets approved. Paisano® 16:43, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Ubuntu Chinese Wiki

I have received the notification email of Ubuntu Chinese Wikibut have not received the password, I understand the problem now, I have not confirmed the email yet, also I have not yet received the confirmation email, maybe I ask for you can send me the password later. Thanks!--Itsmine 12:13, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

There were some problems with mail server, so these mails might be delayed. I'll reset the mailing list password for you now. Angela (talk) 08:53, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] MediaWiki 1.6

Does this allow semi-protection and Wikipedia CSS?? --195.188.50.200 14:45, 11 April 2006 (UTC)

It allows semi-protection. I don't know exactly what you mean by Wikipedia CSS. Wikipedia is now on 1.7, so its possible you can't do exactly the same things as there. Angela (talk) 08:53, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] "Wikicities messages"

Is this supposed to still read with the old name, or has Wikia "missed a spot"? -- Zanimum 14:03, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

It's missing a few spots. It's on Jason's list of things to change since it would be pointless to edit the mediawiki namespace manually on every wiki. Angela (talk) 08:53, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Adminship on pl.Dyskordia

Hi angela. This Wiki [3] has been abandoned. Its founder doesn't seem to edit anything. I would like to ask if i could be granted administrative rights to this project thus i could take care of it's proper development. {{SUBST:ZelDelet}} 20:57, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Ok, but please realise that the original founder might come back and begin editing, so I'm not going to respond to any request to have that person desysopped. Angela (talk) 08:53, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Access Denied

Every time I try to save my edits I get some stupid message saying "Access Denied". What's going on here?Sam Randleman 22:26, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

It's a bug. The most info I have on it is Sannse's mailing list post. Angela (talk) 08:53, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Domain

Hi Angela!

Wa're to bother you again a little bit (You seem to have more trouble with us then with other wikis altogether). However, Nonsensopedia has grown and is still gradually growing and we thought that it would be convenient for both You and us to give nonsensopedia a ncie domain. Therefore we would like to ask you if it is possible to give nonsensopedia one. We have already researched domains a bit and most of them are occupied. The most "precious" one [4] has been taken over by a company that seems to make profit out of stealing domains. I also found a form here [5]. But they want money for it :/ If it is impossible to retrievew this domain, would it be posiible then to get another one? Your Sincerely Sos of Nonsensopedia --Sos 19:30, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

I doubt it would be worth paying a company like for the domain. An alternative would be to be at pl.uncyclopedia.org to keep all the language versions of Uncyclopedia together. The naming scheme would be the same as Wikipedia, with the language code used as the subdomain name, so should be fairly familiar for people who have used any of the Wikimedia wikis. Angela (talk) 22:46, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
This would be convenient but only if other wikis had a domain like this either. It would be some kind of unification, and recently many ucyclopedia-like wikis began to provide interwiki links. And also I would like to ask if it would be possible to get .pl domain/alias if we paid on our own? --Sos 17:36, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
I'm going to suggest that all Uncyclopedias be on the same domain, and then if people want to buy related names and redirect those there, they can do, but the "real URL" would always be <langcode>.uncyclopedia.org so users could be certain they are on the real Uncyclopedia and not on some fake site that has been stealing domain names. Angela (talk) 02:22, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Naruto Wiki

I need instructions on how to change the language from japanese to english. I made a mistake on my request on a new wiki. So I really need to know how to change Naruto Wiki's language to english.TranClan

Ok. I'll change that now. Angela (talk) 11:52, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikhowto

We want to replace the logo of Wikihowto to this one. Thanks. moa3333 11:16, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Those 2 logos look the same to me. If you're still seeing the old, try clearing your cache by pressing Ctrl and F5 on the image. Angela (talk) 11:52, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Football Wiki

Is it possible to delete inactive Wikis and start afresh with a whole new one? That's what I'd like to do with the English Football (Soccer) Wiki.--M Johnson 23:11, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

It only has one page anyway. I suggest you just edit the main page and start again. Angela (talk) 00:38, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

OK, I'll do that. Could I have admin access there please?--M Johnson 08:23, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

Ok. Angela (talk) 00:58, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New wiki

Can you set up a new wiki for us - the Whitmarshwiki? Also, is semi-protection offered?? --Jazgred 23:32, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

Yes, but please send a request form with details of what this wiki would be about. Angela (talk) 00:38, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Barnstar

Image:Barnstar.png For Angela for all her work getting Wikicities, now Wikia, going and dealing with all the wiki-ignorance (including mine) and imaturity. (I've never given a barnstar before, so I hope this is a good way to do it.) --CocoaZen 03:11, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
Thank you! That's my first Wikia barnstar. I hope you have a Happy Easter. Angela (talk) 03:30, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
Looks like it's the first one anyone's received on the Central Wikia. That seems appropriate to me.
Happy holidays to you! (I just finished helping out the Easter bunny. What fun!) --CocoaZen 03:40, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Request of account removal

Hi Angela! It may sound strange and inconvenient to You, but I would like you to remove my sysop privileges along with my whole accout from Nonsensopedia. I may ask Jason if it is of too much trouble to you. It is the last thing here for now I ask of you so please remove my whole account. If it is impossible though, just remove sysop privileges from me. It is because I would like to drop any contact with them, as they will sure try to perceive me to come back. Yet, due to interpersonal circumstances on this wiki, I just want to part from them. Hope you'll understand. Best regards and happy easter --Sos 09:37, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

I can't delete accounts, since they are shared across all wikis, and not specific to Nonsensopedia. However, I have removed your admin access. I would like to hear more about what the problems are and why you decided to quit. Please email me if you don't want to discuss it publically. Angela (talk) 00:58, 17 April 2006 (UTC)
Hmm... It seems that I still have my sysop, but let's keep it this way for a time being. I'll keep in touch with you and try to explain the situation. Thanks for your concern. --Sos 21:44, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wiki name change

Can you change our wiki name to Merseyuncyclopedia please - Merseywiki is no longer appropriate. --Wicklow 12:16, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

No, please use Uncyclopedia for parody content. The Mersea wiki is supposed to be a real wiki about the county of Mersea. Angela (talk) 00:58, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Special Page Request

Hey, Angela, I was wondering, can you make a restricted special page that tells you what other peoples IP addresses are? Thank you. —The thing Talk 16:40, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

Not really, since IPs are private information. Staff can see them using CheckUser. Angela (talk) 00:58, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] The Matrix Online Wiki

I just tripped over this site and found the Matrix Online wiki. Having had fun updating wikia for other games, I decided to give it a go. I posted about it on the SOE site: Matrix Online Wiki and will see if that generates any community interest.

Thank you for providing this service to us (I noticed you were policing the site for spam).--SwordMage 20:03, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

Good luck. I hope the message brings in some new users. Angela (talk) 00:58, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] statistics

Hi Angela. Way back in June you added three offsite images which carry a little bit of auto-updating ranking information to the Statistics page. Since then we've changed to "Wikia.org," so the first is no longer accurate. Can you remember where you got them? – Jello2 21:52, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

They were from alexa. I'll update it now. Angela (talk) 23:44, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Admin right removal on pl.fantasy

Hi Angela. One of out bureaucrat, ZelDelet gaves a bureaucrat right to his sock puppet Wikirs. He do this without any consultation with anybody. Please remove bureaucrat and admin rights from Wikirs. I know it's the same person becouse Wikirs is (now) inactive founder of Digitalpedia and ZelDelet tells me some time ago that this is his account. Please use checkuser if it's neccessary.

ZelDelet is a good admin, but is also a person who loves power. I would be also mostly pleased if you removed bureaucrat flag from ZelDelet, becouse it's not the first time when ZelDelet does everything to have more power. He also forced Server Revres to make him bureaucrat. It's maybe foult, I gave a sysop to ZelDelet, becouse I needed help in translating MediaWiki, but ZelDelet even don't touched any MediaWiki files. Szoferka 17:41, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

Normally I wouldn't comment on this, but it's kind of striking, when Szoferka who got to be a bureaucrat on Nonsensopedia, just because ZelDelet didn't ask anybody is now claiming that giving out bugeaucrats without any consultation is illegal. --Sos 07:58, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
Sos got no idea what is going on on Nonsensopedia, becouse he is still absent. Barratry is his centraly and only job. To see his activity please look at his contributions (less than two peer day). I probably got more edits than all the admins together have, so I am a bureaucrat. Szoferka 08:13, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Problem with the URL of the new wiki, Code: WIKI...

Angela, the URL of Code: WIKI which you sent me via email does not work, or the wiki does not exist yet. Has Code: WIKI been created, or are you still awaiting my email reply? Because if it has been, the URL (or the Wikia itself) does not work. Please inform me of the problem. Thank you. KFan II 22:11, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

It doesn't exist yet. I'll make it now. It will be at http://codelyoko.wikia.com. Angela (talk) 01:10, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Code: WIKI

Angela, can you transfer all the pages from the old Code: WIKI to the new Code: WIKI, or is it too much to ask? I can't transfer all the files, because some of my users put spoilers on the pages I don't want to see, if you understand. Thank you for your consideration. KFan II 02:11, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

Did you see the email I sent you? Angela (talk) 03:23, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

No. I've talked to the other users on Code: WIKI, and they do not want to move to the Wikia host, as they prefer EditThis.Info for some reason or another. In any case, I must comply with my community. Thanks for the offer, but my users have made their choice. Sorry to waste your time like this. KFan II 11:37, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

Do you mean that you don't want this wiki at all? Angela (talk) 07:03, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

Its too much work. Sorry. KFan II 20:18, 12 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] About Martin Oei's page

<messages moved>

I am looking into this. I've moved the messages from here to a private wiki to prevent another argument developing here and to try and keep all the information in one place. Angela (talk) 07:30, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

What is the address of the private wiki?--210.3.25.137 02:08, 27 April 2006 (UTC)
It's only accessible to staff. KaurJmeb will start working for Wikia on May 2nd. Since she speaks Chinese, I have asked her to look into this issue. Angela (talk) 06:29, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wiki request

Could you allow us to have our own wiki, but without the shared user database here, and the checkuser?? It's a slightly nonsensical Wikipedia parody... --Southmare 13:21, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

No, sorry, but all wikis are set up to use the same user database, and removing CheckUser would probably just lead to abuse. Also, Uncyclopedia is already a Wikipedia parody, so we wouldn't want to duplicate that. Angela (talk) 14:38, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] CheckUser

Please add this to ALL wikis!! --Thornfires 13:04, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

No, that would be a huge violation of privacy. There is no need to see the IP of every user. Angela (talk) 15:29, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] News box translation

That's the russian translation:

Edward Chernenkoo 12:03, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Just saying 'Hello!'

Hi Angela - I note that you are my Wiki Ambassador. As a member of Her Majesty's Armed Forces, it is my duty and pleasure to observe the niceties of life and present myself.

I am a recent convert to the whole 'Wiki' lifestyle but I am having huge amounts of fun already, especially at my single contribution to date, The Army Rumour Service page.

I look forward to exploring this world in greater detail! Stay safe!

[edit] Translation

Hi Angela. Could you give me an advice how to start translation of all Central Wikia pages into Polish, how to categorize it and how to link it to exsiting pages in other languages (none, only some or maybe all)? Can I put Polish help pages into help namespace or where else I can put it? Szoferka 07:31, 2 May 2006 (UTC)

I've added a Pomoc namespace (and Dyskusja pomocy for the talk pages) where you can put them. You can label the pages with Category:Pomoc. You can use interlanguage links like [[en:Help:Contents]] to link to other versions on this wiki. Angela (talk) 16:22, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
Wow, thanks, namespace is a big responsibility. :) I will try to do my best to make it a really good think. Szoferka 01:27, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Melbourne Wiki

Hi Angela, as you're a Melbournian, you might like this effort to create a city wiki for Melbourne. I'm still trying to find people that are willing to contribute, though. So not much there, yet. --Jsfan 04:31, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

I suggest you use the Australia Wikia instead since one aimed only at melbourne isn't likely to be active enough. Please don't use Wikia to promote non-Wikia sites. Angela (talk) 05:08, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] De-bureaucrating at the X-Files Wiki

On the X-Files Wiki, I accidentally made a user into a bureaucrat without meaning to. I meant to give them administrator rights, instead. Is there a way you or I can remove their bureaucrat status? I would prefer that you respond on my talk page here. --84.65.92.137 19:32, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Fixed. Angela (
