Well i added to adoption a couple of minutes ago and the founder, whos conveniently is in the room next door to me, found out and removed it, then said he'd put top trumps wiki up for adoption, even though i edited on it minutes ago.I guess the only way to stop him if he removes it again is block him.Do you think thats what i should do?Also he has no plans to continue editing there.Sgtcook 20:57, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

If Kingcjc wants to be active on the madness wiki, it doesn't need the adoption notice any more. You don't need to worry if you don't want to be the admin there. Eventually, other editors will find the wiki and start helping out. Angela@Wikia (talk) 21:01, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

There's no requirement like that. It's just usual for someone adopting a wiki to be already active on it. At the moment, the wiki isn't being used, which means there's not really any need for admins. Adminship only gives you a few extra tools for cleaning up the wiki. Is there anything you think you want to do that need admin access? If not, I suggest you simply work on the wiki for a bit longer as an editor. Angela@Wikia (talk) 07:57, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Hello Angela, i would like to call your attention to the latest disruptive actions of one of your janitors. Would you be so so kind as to ask him to stop his destructive behaviour. I think this proves that he is the one that is sabotaging and provoking, not me. His actions are the only reason i abandoned two wikis i founded myself and which made me really hate Wikia because you let a guy like him go unchecked and even make him semi-staff. I would like to ask you to tell this guy to let off. I don't know him. He has been harassing me ever since het picked that fight on http://paradox.wikia.com.

I'm sorry to hear oncyclopedia is being vandalised, but it's not a Wikia site, so I can't look into who is causing the problem. I have no reason to believe it's our Manticore. I am saying this hear as I keep getting blocked by Rs4life07 on the Call of Duty Wiki, I try to post am essage, but all he is doing is waiting to block me every time. Please stop it, I want to edit, but Rs4life is enjoying this, making this miserable for me. I have tried to end it, but he is not listening, he wants to be a power hungry admin, because of this, I will never edit again, because I am not feeling welcome. I want you to end this before it destroys the Call of Duty Wiki.

[edit] Hi, about game programming wiki

I think Game Dev Wiki is inactive. I would like to adopt it and in sometime, when I have written a bunch of articles, I would appreciate you to make me admin... or bureaucrat, I don't know if that is common policy for adoption. Moreover, I would have been bureaucrat if the wiki did not exist but it exists, so I am requesting it.

You may think why I request adminship before writing something useful there, the point is the main page is protected. Or you could unprotect the main for me to be able to edit it. As the page is protected I can create pages but nobody would see the links unless they watch Recent Changes or Special:Allpages.

I just beg you to unprotect the page. I could be of great help there as I have been a game programmer for 8 years and I have succesfully programmed more than 10 games.

Hi Angela! With the Age of Conan release a few days away, we were hoping to finalize the RPGStarter Wiki and prepare it for use as a template for MMO server wikis. However, for almost two weeks we have been unable to raise communications with our previous Wikia staff contacts involving this project. We feel that we have a very promising plan for using the RPGStarter, but without support, the wikis cannot go into operation. We at the Warriors Wiki held a vote to see whether we should create a new namespace for Roleplaying pages, or to make them as subpages on the RPsite's article, and the vote ends tomorrow. Hi Angela,

At some point in 2006, I joined the archaeology wikia, which had been abandoned and I volunteered to adopt it. Since then I had been away and the original founder has since left as well.

Hello Angela, FreeNode changed it's software sometime recently and because of it ChanServ has a few new features, but is also broken a bit for #wikia.

Most notably by default no-one has the +r flag. It used to be that the lvl 10 users (Any of us who could +o ourselves to deal with spam in the channel) could use the UNBAN command if for some reason someone else with +o decided to kick and ban all the other ops in the channel (rare condition, but large communities are always swirling between stability and instability) and it would remove the ban set on us and allow us to rejoin the channel. However, now to make use of the UNBAN command you need +r which is not given by default to those of us who used to be lvl10.

In addition there are two notable new features you may want to mess with. One small part can't be completely tweaked by anyone except you.

  • Channels now have arbitrary metadata that can be given to them. Rather than the limited url and email for a channel, you can add in any type of property you want. So it's got potential for listing things like forum links, mailing lists, help links, etc... All of this can be viewed with /msg ChanServ TAXONOMY #wikia and edited with /msg ChanServ SET #wikia PROPERTY <name> [value].
  • Rather than the old LEVEL and ACCESS system, ChanServ now uses FLAGS, and we're able to create named TEMPLATEs for adding those flags to users. In addition to that, the name of the template actually shows up beside the user's nick in the ACCESS #wikia LIST command.
  • And instead of the channel CONTACT and ALTERNATE there is a +F flag to identify channel founder. (In the #Yu-Gi-Oh channel I even found out that you can assign +F to multiple users... But of course only a +F can add +F to someone else).

It would be nice to have a new set of FLAG TEMPLATEs created. Primarily a basic one for all of us who used to be lvl10 so that we can actually use +r abilities like we used to. (Actually, for a good name... I created a 'sysop' template on a number of the channels I manage and use that. It would probably make for a good name considering most of us with +o in #wikia are Sysops on central). Theoretically you can even create a number of templates for the 'helper', 'janitor', 'staff', and 'sysop' users.

Though, the primary reason for poking you is. There is one common template made, a 'founder' which is basically what would be applied to you in the list. It's not created, and because it needs +F only you can create it. Without it blank text appears next to your name rather than some useful identification.

[edit] Monobook Skin (and some other questions)

Hi Angela. I am not completely sure if you are the correct person to contact about this. Whenever my admins (at Guild Wars Guilds) access their prefercences, it causes them to delete our MediaWiki:AdminSkin which has monobook set as our default. When the page is deleted, it sets the skin back to monaco. I changed the skin to monobook becuase majority do not prefer the monaco skin. Now my admins and I are not willingly delete this page, it automatically deletes the page when we access our preferences. Do you know why this is and how we can fix it?

Also, I have been trying to get in contact with a wikia staff member about promotting a user to bot and taking away sysop rights from a user. I am aware that at this time only a staff member may do this, which is the reason I have been trying to contact one of you. I need to promote a user to bot status (PhoenixBot) and take away sysop rights from a user (Eloc jcg, I promoted the wrong user by mistake the actual user that needs the status is Eloc Jcg). If you could come to my wiki and do this for us is would be greatly appreciated.

i am the only admin of WBC Radio N Wiki, which is about the entire radio station, wbcn in Boston MA, but i do not have enough info on the entire station. Could i change the subject to just one show, the toucher and rich show, and change the name? The changed name would be TARDopedia. Can you please give me admiship on the pt.tibia wikia? That wikia was firstly designed to be about Tibiabr, a Tibia supported fansite, but the current admin isn't active since 2005 . Hello, It's me Kebath 'Holoree. I don't know if you remember me or not but anyway, on my wikia, things haven't been going as originally planned, but some friends and I have found a purpose for it. However, I need the removal of a few users from the admin list, who really haven't done anything on it since creation. I don't want anything to happen on the wiki because of a few "loose" admins. Here's the list:

Holobot- My own creation to be able to do admin things if I couldn't log in for any reason

Lordofmonsterisland- Hasn't really worked at all...

Matt-256- I don't think he even works on wiki projects anymore. Haven't seen him on either Halofanon or my wiki.

FTF Bot- I believe it was another bot created for admin assistance, no longer needed.

We have plans to use the wiki for similar article creation as that of Halo fanon. A large scale dispute is going on at the moment, and that has caused members to leave. Those leaving have decided to check out my wiki and see if it will be better than Halo Fanon. With these old (no go) admins removed, it will give room for true admins to take place and help start the wiki the way it should be.

And one more thing if it is not too much trouble... The name of the wiki is still FTF Halo Wiki. If you don't mind I would like it changed to Halo Archive, and the link changed to haloarchive.wiki.com. If its not too much trouble.. --Kebath 'Holoree

Hi Angela. The WWiki is having trouble with a vandal. He/she first vandalized impersonating one of our users, who is requesting adminship, named *swifty*, and uploaded obscene images, which were deleted. The vandal made his/her username *svvifty*. I blocked the user, who came back as an ip, 38.100.42.19. I blocked that ip, and he/she came back again, as 209.160.28.45. I blocked him/her, but I fear he/she will come back again. Our Recent Changes page is cluttered with foul language and reverts, which could be offputting to new potential users. Could you do something?

Dear Angela, this looks to me like a prosecution in some ways. I understand they don't like my way of talking and working, I don't like theirs neither. But I still am a bureaucrat and the wiki's co-founder, and I have never vandalized in any way. I have been rude to User:Bucurestean and that was a fight in which we both made faults. What they claim is incorrect and I would appreciate it if you would take account of this. I am being insulted falsely (And they don't stop deleting pages. It's very strange you say that. If you were just willing to fix the situation, you wouldn't be lying and assulting him falsely. You just want to avenge for the fights you two had before. About being rude: what I have read on your wiki, is not just said by one person, and you know that. About abusing admin rights, that sounds like nonsense too. There has never been abuse and I can only say that both his block yesterday and his unblock were dubious and shouldn't have happened. Hello! I started a new wiki this week, http://hu.esztergom.wikia.com, and I'd like to change the default skin for the wiki to the classic Wikipedia Monobook. (This Monaco skin is horrible) At the "Admin Options", it says: "For custom themes, select the custom option in the menu above and specify custom CSS in MediaWiki:Monaco.css." Since the Monobook is not avaliable by default, I tried changing the contents of http://hu.esztergom.wikia.com/wiki/MediaWiki:Monaco.css to this, and I selected the "custom" from the menu, but it had no effect. Hi Angela, I'm asking to be promoted to bureaucrat status on the Monster Hunter Wiki. I am by far the longest contributing member on the wiki. I've currently edited 5,810 times, 4,183 of them being directly on the wiki, 666 in images, 250 in templates, and 269 in user talk. I work well with users and have only had a few conflicts with users in the past year of me being admin, and most of them, possibly all, because of them looking for a conflict. Hello, I have a problem on Halopedia. During the time time of my one month ban, an admin (Commander Tony) deleted my userpage. After my ban was up I contacted the Halopedia admins asking to restore the page. One of these admins attempted to restore the page, buut when it was restored, it was unable to be viewed by any users. The wiki registers it as a page, but it has no information, no "edit", "discussion" etc tabs at the top. If you could contact the techs to solve this problem, that would be a great help.

Hello Angela and thanks for dropping by. I've cleaned up the copyright mess (now the edit page correctly lists CC BY-SA 3.0 as the license). I'll add the template you mentioned but I have two questions:

  1. Could it be removed after the article has been significantly changed? It's not that my fingers itch to remove it, I'm just asking.
  2. You're saying that I need to note that the original content of the page was licensed under GFLD. Isn't it enough to add the aforementioned template?

Erm, Hello and nice to meet you. I am one of the Administrator of MapleWiki. Although I am not the founder of MapleWiki, i do wish that MapleStory Wikia merges with us as they provide the versions. The only thing needed to be removed is: advertising for other games. As for the letting people edit without logging in, i allow it because I will punish them accordingly if they vandalised One of these. Anyway, the people editting with their IP Address here has been quite bad as some of them vandalised MapleStory Wikia. I have banned them by IP Address in MapleWiki in case they got banned here and looked for another MapleWiki. Anyway, the founder of MapleWiki has 2 websites, MapleTip and MapleWiki. He is never online on MapleWiki, so you'll have to merge with us rather than us merging with you.

Several times today I logged into Google and searched for Liberapedia.

  • Old Liberapedia consistently comes top of the list in page 1 of Google. Old Liberapedia has on its Main Page, “Please note you are viewing an archive version of Liberapedia, the site has now moved to Wikia” and, “This site has moved to a new location. See Liberapedia:Move FAQ”. This hardly creates a good impression.
  • The second on the list on page 1 of Google is, Uncyclopedia’s Liberapedia article.

The Uncyclopedia article ridicules Liberapedia and the administrators.

New Liberapedia run by Wikia is the most important Liberapedia web-site now. Therefore I feel New Liberapedia should come top when users search for Liberapedia. I’ve tried to contact Google but I don’t know how to. In any case I feel Wikia has more influence. Hi Angela I'm user Rod12 I run the Green Arrow site and I also work and do editing on DC Database, Batman, Aquaman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Smallville and Superman and thats just the web sites related to DC Comics but my message is more about the Green Lantern and The Flash sites the creators of both those sites have both not been on in a long time and more two the point the creator of The Flash site I don't remember the last time seeing him on his website editing and doing general wikia work to the other related Wikia sites above and what I'm asking is another user and I the user is Doomlurker have both agreed and wanted to adopt that one sites if they are put up for adoption or if some other reason occurs he has a agreed he would take The Flash site and I would help out. We both want these sites to improve and get better if the creators for both of them don't want to run it anymore or simply don't have time anymore we would both like to take over control because we both work together each on are separtly run sites together I help out with his Batman and Aquaman and he helps out with my Green Arrow. So if you could help me and user Doomlurker solve this issue by letting us adopt those sites that would be great.
