Hello, sorry to bother you again. I just wanted to know if pages can be protected against creation? I am not an administrator on Wikipedia, but from what I can figure, there must be a protect tab at the top when coming to a non-existent page on Wikipedia, just like any other page. But I see no protect tab when coming to non-existent pages on Deckipedia, does this mean that the protection [create=sysop] is not enabled on Wikia? Thanks for your help. [edit] Question about a WikiCity I created

Dear Angela:

I've learnt that all the wikicities were turned into Wikias, and that the person that creates a Wikia now is by default the admin or sysop or something. Does that apply to me and the Animal Crossing Wikia? Also, there is another Animal Crossing Wikia out, spec. for the DS version, but it only has 9 articles. Should they be merged?

I think it would make alot of sense because...

1. The AC Wikia was made first. 2. The AC Wikia is, and always was, intended for all games in the Animal Crossing series. 3. The other Wikia only has 9 articles. 4. People may go to that Wikia looking for content that would be on ours.

[edit] Request for permissions on Half-Life wiki

Hello Angela. I'm hoping that you can grant me additional permissions on the Half-Life wiki.

Quite frankly, the administration staff (all two of them) is completely dead; one admin hasn't edited since December 6, 2007, while the local 'crat hasn't done anything since January 1, 2008. The site itself isn't dead, so it can't quite be up for adoption, but there's certainly nobody in charge around there...

What I'd like is to be granted both adminship and bureaucrat permissions; the former so I can start protecting some critical pages (for example, the background image is disturbingly unprotected), the later so I can help further foster the community by promoting additional administrators from the active users. I've contacted the local 'crat about adminship,[1] but haven't heard back from him. Because of his inactivity, I'd like to just out-right replace him as local bureaucrat, as I don't have much faith in him coming back, not to mention that I don't want to be the sole active admin forever. :)

Brief history about me, I suppose... I currently hold adminship on 4 WMF projects: the English Wikipedia (my home project: 24k+ edits, admin for over a year and 3 months), Meta, Commons, and Wikispecies. You can see my complete wiki-matrix at m:User:EVula/matrix. I'm no wiki-newbie, and I'd like to do what I can to get this project back up and running.

forumadmin is related to the phpBB forums which some wikis have, but it has a few bugs so isn't being rolled out to all wikis yet. Angela@Wikia (talk) 03:46, 15 February 2008 (UTC)

Hi Angela, a student of mine made some logos for use by a campus organization and uploaded them to the ecology wikia as a convenient way for folks to vote. It turns out that they violate Saint Michael's College trademarks in two instances: 1 2 I have requested through your copyright person on behalf of the college that they be removed but to no avail. Hi, thanks for the approval of the Materia Magica Wiki.

However I have some issues regarding the site url. The problem is that using materiamagica.wikia.com would be too long and inconvenient. I suggested alyria.wikia.com initially when i requested the wiki, but for some reason it was not used. I would appreciate if I could know why it cannot be used. If alyria.wikia.com is really impossible, then I would still suggest an alternative like mm.wikia.com. (Which I don't know if it meets the requirements?)

we at the ice hockey wiki have noticed that the NHL wiki is now being edited very sporadically by a single user. Considering our wiki covers that subject and has a much broader scope, we (the admins of IHW) would like to ask you if it would be possible to merge the NHL wiki into ours. Recently the wiki has been receiving a lot of vandalism and currently there are no active admins so they have to wait around for a janitor to come by and clean up the mess. User:MarioGalaxy2433g5 has been helpful on the wiki by reverting vandalism and contacting janitors and is active on the wiki in general so I recommend making him an admin. The founder and only Sysop of the Wiki has been AWOL since May 2007 [4], and as a result me and the other users have had few ways of fighting vandalism effectively. Hi Angela,

Is there a way to get automatically informed of any changes of functions (new functions, functions which were deleted, ...) and communications-tools (forum, chat etc)? Its quite difficult to get an overview of the immense possibilities to communicate or participate in Wikia Search and to be up to date of any changes.

I think this was just to prevent abuse since every wiki founder is automatically a bureaucrat, and it's better for someone else to check a bot is approved before adding a flag. Angela@Wikia (talk)

Would it be possible to install some sort of username blacklist or something? We are getting quite a lot of accounts being created with very inappropriate usernames. While this would normally not be an issue as the New User Log extension isn't installed, Recentchanges on Gaming is not very work-safe because of it. --Skizzerz talk 03:52, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

There is a blacklist for repeat spammers, but not for users who have only created accounts. Once the gaming wiki is moved to the regular Wikia codebase, this won't be a problem since not all users are displayed in Special:Listusers. Angela@Wikia (talk)

He's wreaking havoc on the RuneScape Wikia. Someone created a nonsense page on it called "Light bow". The page is based on an already existent item called the Dark Bow. The company who created RuneScape made a sketch of the Dark Bow, colored white. So the person who made the article decided to make a nonsense page about the white version which is just a sketch.

I labelled it with the speedy deletion tag, and Manticore blocked me and claimed I was "vandalizing". Something has to be done. 67.68.37.7 15:26, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi Angela,

It seems that recently interwiki links have stopped working.When I type [[Wikia:c:bionicle:Earth|Earth]],it leads me to a wiki about Global Warming.When I try an irregular name(such as Metru Nui,etc.) under [[wikia:c:bionicle]],it says that it is an invalid wiki,although it does exist.

At the Pikipedia, we would like to know whether it's possible to get the AddHTML extension installed. The current reason is so that an IRC-based chatroom can be set up: the extension is required for the HTML involved to work. Do you recall that there was another RuneScape wiki with poor content? I have a complaint about them. Actually, I have SEVERAL complaints: allow me to explain.

I don't know WHY or HOW this happened.

I was on the Internet last night. I had only ONE browser up and no other programs open. In that browser, there was only ONE tab. I decided to visit that wiki to see how they were doing. When I arrived, a pop-up message advertising a autolevelling macroing program (illegally, obviously), popped up and I simply brushed it aside. Then my computer's virus scan started running, but then, before it finished, the whole thing just crashed. That's right: their wiki is infected with a VIRUS. And my computer GOT that virus.

I went to the forums to complain. I did so, and they blocked me, giving me the reason:

You have been banned for the following reason:
Go back to your Wiki then. This site does NOT contain viruses.
Date the ban will be lifted: Never

So they're trying to cover up the fact that they don't care that our new computer gave us a virus. I've had it with them: I'm reporting them to you and to the RuneScape officials of Jagex for breaking RS rules.

They are right, the wiki itself does not have a virus. It's either the Google ads or you have spyware on your computer because you went to a site like what you mentioned and ran into an ActiveX script or downloaded something you shouldn't have. Jagex will not do anything, because the RuneScape Wiki community, let alone Wikia, has no control over how you take care of your computer. I know this for a fact because we have ran into similar problems at FFXIclopedia before we moved to Wikia with users having complaints about ads with 3rd party programs. Wikia can only add filters to google ads that they find are harmful. So the only thing you can do is be more careful about clicking ads and taking care of your computer and browsing experience. I recommend either disabling ActiveX in Internet Explorer, or use Firefox and install NoScript. Either way, neither Wikia or the Runescape community is at fault here. --CharitwoTalk 13:23, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, I'm was thinking of restarting http://kongregate.wikia.com, but first, would it be possible to change the namespace "Kongregate's Wiki" to "Kongregate Wiki"? I'm thinking that it could lead to some problems down the road if the apostrophe makes it sound like the wiki is sponsored or endorsed by Kongregate or something of the sort. Hi Angela. Right now I'm the only active user on the Fashion Wikia and I have a few issues that I need help with:

1. Is it acceptable for me to import images from Wikipedia as well as text, and if so, how should I tag the images?

2. Could you or another user help me copy some template code (such as the infobox code) to the wiki? I tried doing this on my own and had trouble.

3. Is their any way we could get this wiki to rank higher on google search when someone searches for "clothing wikia"? (The URL is http://fashion.wikia.com, so would it be possible to create a mirror URL entitled "clothing.wikia.com"?)

4. On some articles, when I add "Template:Wikipedia", the Wikipedia logo image shows up as a link to the image instead of the image. Can you help me fix this?

5. Can you please help show me how to change the top content (e.g. the "editor's pick")?

I would like to work for Wikia. I just do not know if Wikia hires foreign people (I live in Colombia). My english level is advanced, you can check my contributions and judge by yourself. Hi Davichito. Wikia hires people all over the world. The Community Team alone cover 5 continents! Our current openings are listed on the hiring page. Of course, you don't need to get hired to get involved. I'll make you an admin on the biology wiki so you can adopt that. If you're interested in getting involved in the Spanish language wikis as well, you should talk to Juan David who is based in Chile and check out Wikia's Spanish portal. Hi Angela, I'm from the RuneScape wiki and we're planning to request a new namespace soon. We have nearly full community support, just one oppose and have had consensus declared for a few weeks now. We're having a bot move the pages, and the admins will delete the redirects themselves. I proposed that we move pages to something like E: (as the new namespace we need is Exchange:), but that has yet to be finalized. We don't want the new namespace to count as articles, as they are more like "random chunks of data" (as one admin put it) that we have found ways to utilize in more than 3 different ways, from just one page of information. Hi, Angela. I've been the administrator of the Monster Hunter Wiki for more than a year and it now has more than 1,000 pages. I'm going to need help with the wiki now from someone who has the same powers as I do. This is where a friend of mine comes in. She has been a member in the wiki since September, has uploaded more than 100 images, edited more than 500 times, and set up more than 50 templates. I personally know her as mature enough to do the job. Please either give her administrative powers, or give me bureaucratic powers so I can do it myself. Hi. I want to know how I can put the Category:Stub on the left menu. I have put some categories with #category1, #category2, but I don't know the number of Stub category (I have put category numbers up to 20, and I don't see it). I also put it like [[Category:Stub|Stub but that way the menu does not expand, only the link is clickable.

Dear Angela,

I'm a bureaucrat of Wikination. Wikination is one of the Wikias belonging to "UWN" (the United Wiki Nations). We are all fictitious countries with governments, economy and much more. Other nations are on RoWikicity, Wikistad, Wikilandj or Wikicité. It might sound dumb, but there are serious problems between those nations. There have been heavy comments on the government in Wikination and after blocking to people from RoWikicity, the situation got worse. We are almost at war with each other. This is not we want, but the other members seem to be thinking other things. We are trying to step out of UWN, to prevent internet war. Is there a possibility to ensure our safety in another way, for a week or something? Are you empowered to "pauze" wikias for a period? If we could prevent everyone from editing for a short time, the situation could be restored more easily.

[edit] No sysops on the fable wiki

Hi Angela,

We have a slight problem on the Fable Wiki, in that we don't have any admins or members of staff. Or at least none show up on Special:Listusers/Sysops. Vitas claims to be the controller of the wiki, but I've never seen any administratorive actions by him. Another sign is that he doesn't know how to delete pages. This may be simply due to lack of wiki experience, or due to lack of adminstrator- umm -ness.

For administrator rights, I could reccomend either Kadajvince, Vitas, or myself. To make the final decision, I reccomend you simply look at our previous contributions.
