[edit] In other languages...

central pages are able to have this link to to the foreign equivelant of the page... is there a way to get it on other wikias? as in like changing the Monobook or something? cos i'm trying to set them on Residennt Evil to link to the Italian version and vica-verca. --[F] 11:55, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

I've just added this. It doesn't take effect immediately, so it could be a couple of days before you see it working, but when it is, you can link to the Italian version from the English one using [[it:article title]] and link the other way using [[en:article title]]. [edit] Adminship

I tries to make a wiki on a topic, but found there already was one! Too bad it was a real mess and the founder and the admins hadn't been on for a year. It got tagged for adoption, but I have started fixing it up. However there are things only an admin can do, and I cant get promoted because they dont come on. Can you please Promote me? The wiki is The LatterDay Wiki. Please contact me on my talk page there-Matoro183 (Talk) 12:21, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

I've done this. Angela@Wikia (talk)

[edit] Hi, Sorry To Bother You

I was just wondering how I can gain Admin rights on the Stephen King wiki? I erased the adopted sign and have been editing it for a while, and there are currently no other active users on the wiki. I plan to put a link to the wiki on Wikipedia in the future, but I'm not sure who to talk to in order to become an admin, and was hoping you could help me. Please reply on User talk:DrakemasterDrake. Thank you.

I've done this. Angela@Wikia (talk)

[edit] Date formatting

Hi, I'm wondering if there is a way to force the date produced via ~~~~~ and RSS feeds of Recent Changes / Article History to be presented in numerical Asian format (YYYY/MM/DD) so that it can be easily sorted automatically. American format would be a backup second choice (still useful if all the dates are within the same year). The DD/MM/YYYY (currently used by ~~~~~) and YYYY/DD/MM (currently used by <rss>)formats limits automated sorting to dates within the same month for the result to be meaningful, which I find a bit restrictive on a number of occasions. Thanks. -PanSola 23:49, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] CC-by-sa-nc request.

Hi, Angela. I'm the admin of the Yuriban Encyclopedia, and I'd like to get some information regarding putting our Wikia under a CC-by-sa-nc license, in the same fashion as Désencyclopédie. May we have this discussion on my user talk page? Thanks. --Ruriko 12:37, 2 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Impartial mediator for cross-wiki issues

Angela, I don't know if it's just me noticing something that's been on for awhile, or if it's something that's been growing. But I've been starting to see the issues of users having issues with each other (ie: like the Assaulthead or Tyler Waren cases) where 2 groups or a group and a user have an issue with each other without an absolute clear case of, one is a troll and the other is the wiki community. And those end up in disorganized wars on peoples talkpages where people get blocked on one wiki and take the waring to another wiki, and the groups repeat the same issues without any progress to the issue being resolved. It looks like a lot of the staff are busy with other stuff or not on enough to deal with them all. Perhaps a mediator is needed for these types of issues. An impartial user meant to search the two sides comments separating out and finding out what valid points each side is making, and asserting statements like not harassing users outside of the discussion area about the issue. Cause these issues look like they are going nowhere without a mediating figure for them. If you want I would be happy to sort through and act as a mediator for these. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) (tricks) (current topic) Nov 3, 2007 @ 03:03 (UTC)

[edit] Teklogs adoption help

I have decided to adopt Teklogs, in order to edit important stuff like front page news I need the fellowing pages unprotected:

Your help would be wonderful. Tcrow777 (Talk) 10:19, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

I have pointed out on this Forum what you must do before you can adopt this wiki..--Cometstyles 10:38, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Request to adopt Wikia

Hello there Angela (I'm pretty sure that's your name), There's a Wikia for Metal/Heavy Metal Music but the Sysop (admin,Bereaucrat, whatever) Hasn't been online for over a year, so I requested to make my own. I was advised to try and adopt leadership of the Wikia, and i'm pretty sure you're english, which for communication reasons, makes things easier (My German isn't too good, and my french... *shudder*).

The website I've discussed can be found here:

http://metal.wikia.com

I also would like to take over this wiki because I have made very valuable Contributions to this wiki, which can be viewed here:

http://metal.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Contributions/Napster964

Not surprisingly, I hope you accept my request. Thanks very much, and have a nice day.

Yours Faithfully, Christian/--Napster964

Just start editing it, you can ask for Sysop rights when you have contributed for a few weeks or in an emergency. Tcrow777 Talk | Teklogs 14:46, 11 November 2007 (UTC)
I replied on that wiki. Napster964 is an admin there now. Angela@Wikia (talk) 14:57, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Odyssey Online wiki

Just a note for people following this issue - the wiki has been restarted to clear it from the porn and vandalism left by its previous users. I do believe there is potential for this wiki to be a useful resource for the game, but it needs to be looked after by people who will welcome newcomers and help to ensure this wiki can become a thriving community. For now, there will be no admins, and I have blocked Tyler Warren from editing due to his abuse of admin privileges and offensive behaviour towards other users. I encourage anyone interested in the game to attempt to revive this wiki with great content. Angela@Wikia (talk) 11:34, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Just out of interest, have you regexblocked him? From what I can see of others comments he seems to cause trouble for a few wikis. -- Manticore Talk | Contributions 17:15, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
Yes, I did, after he made this threat to vandalise. Angela@Wikia (talk) 23:56, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Interwiki language links for same project

I mentioned this in my e-mail the other day, but it seems typing, for example, [[de:wiki/Articlename]] would bypass the incorrect linking. However this seems unnecessary considering it doesn't work that way on other wikia projects with multiple languages. Is there a way to toggle it so that it incorporates /wiki automatically? --CharitwoTalk 03:50, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure how to do that, but I'll let Tor know about the problem since he was working on the ffxi import. Angela@Wikia (talk) 04:45, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for asking. I am still getting the "New Message" notification for Odyssey wiki.Ilyas Talk04:03, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Reviews Wiki

Hi you see, i wanted a wikia called Reviews Wiki but we already have a wiki on that topic, and that wiki is like a "deserted" wiki. It basically doesn't have much people and the bureucrat hasn't done anything since 2005. Some person said I should ask you if I can have sysop privleges there, so can I? Have you tried changing the date options in your preferences? Does that help? Angela@Wikia (talk) 04:20, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
My user preferences is set to the "2001-01-15T16:12:34" format (5th choice). However, that is having no effect on the dates for the Recent Changes or Article History from the rss2wiki extension feed, nor on the 4/5 -squigelys (~~~~~). PanSola 19:13, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
I changed to that option in my preferences and now I see dates like 2007-10-31 in recent changes and 2006-09-25T05:06:55 in page histories. This is not consistent with what Wikimedia's help pages claim that option will do. Angela@Wikia (talk) 05:30, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Impartial mediator for cross-wiki issues

Well, of course that is what a single wiki would do. I'm not going into that. But what I was thinking of was one for when 5 or so people from 3 or so wiki come here. Some from one wiki, others from another, and one of them possibly even administrating another wiki. And have a long repetitive debate about one of them causing issues on other wiki. ie: Being blocked on one or two, and then blocking the blockers on their own wiki, and such. The issues where a single wiki can't handle it because the issue isn't part of the wiki. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) (tricks) (current topic) Nov 4, 2007 @ 20:12 (UTC)

Do you mean there should be a central group of mediators for all wikis, or something else? Angela@Wikia (talk) 03:26, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
Well, I suppose at least one or two users to mediate when groups come to central to deal with users who are a problem on multiple wiki. It's just there is no-one but staff for that, and the discussions loop to fast and keep repeating the same issues in ways that can cause noticeable issues around Wikia, even before a staff member can get to dealing with it. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) (tricks) (current topic) Nov 8, 2007 @ 16:40 (UTC)

[edit] Hey

I am a recently sysopped user from RuneScape Wiki (you may remember me from the Odyssy Online Wiki fiasco), and I would like you to know that ChristineV has stepped over the line for flaming and personal attacks. She is a VERY valuable user, but I am sick and tired of her rudeness and perpetual shortness with other users. Just wanted you to know that. --Stinkowing 22:52, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Does that wiki have a no personal attacks policy? Perhaps something like that would help. Angela@Wikia (talk) 03:26, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
That would help, but I've got another dilemma: If you remember back to a de-sysopped RSWikian named Shadowdancer, you'll know that he abused his temporary sysop powers-thus the removal. He is back now under the name Planeshifted (he hasn't said that he's Shadowdancer, but Christine and the community know he is). He is stirring up arguements like he used to, and I've blocked him for flaming me. The worst part is that Christine seems to support him, basing her support on personal things, instead of his attitude. Please help me!--Stinkowing 00:20, 8 November 2007 (UTC)
it's better to let a neutral third party do the block but edits like this aren't acceptable from any user, and if there's already a policy against this, there needs to be one. Angela@Wikia (talk) 02:38, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Blacklist title list

From what I've experienced in the past, the entries don't get updated immediately. When I added Viewforum.php, it only blocked the page the next day. GHe (Talk) 01:07, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

The user is still going. Should I keep an eye on it, delete, and make local blacklists where applicable? GHe (Talk) 01:41, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
Yes, a local blacklist page is useful anyway, even if the cross-wiki one starts working tomorrow. I'll also keep checking for existence of that page across the wikis today. Angela@Wikia (talk) 01:45, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
Angela, can CheckUser get a list of all the Sockpuppets that Assaulthead made? Every time we blacklist one he just goes to the talkpage of another one of his Sockpuppets. It would be nice to pre-protect the rest of them. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) (tricks) (current topic) Nov 10, 2007 @ 01:58 (UTC)

[edit] Software bug

I know you're not a techy, but I don't know who else to poke. On Halopedia, Template:Title doesn't work anymore, so I looked at all the JS errors, and I found this:

Error: oElm has no properties
Source File: http://images.wikia.com/common/skins/quartz/js/allinone.js?9
Line: 4

Template:Title works on several other Wikia, where I don't get that error; if you could poke a tech (and maybe gimme a couple names so I can poke them directly, if you please), that would be mucho appreciatedo. Thanks! =D --NOTASTAFF GPT(talk)(eating) 06:14, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Rename Jean-Baptiste Martin jbm.schtuff.com

Could you please rename my user name as it was done for my user names in wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Jbm747 and http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utilisateur:Jbm747). It was done to remove the site name (not in conformance with wiki conventions, and this site doesn't exist anymore) and to setup a short name (wiki convention). Would you have the possibility to rename it would be fine. Note that I renamed my user page into "Utilisateur:Jean-Baptiste Martin jbm747.blogspot.com" before learning this wiki conventions. (I'm administrator of the wikihowto French version http://fr.howto.wikia.com that you created). --Jean-Baptiste Martin jbm.schtuff.com 21:01, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Profit sharing?

  • Does Wikia currently offer or plan to offer in the future profit sharing on advertisements on wikis that it hosts? Or the ability to place custom Google ads on a wiki? --69.90.216.70 06:16, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
Usually not. We did try that with Openserving but it wasn't a success. Revenue sharing didn't motivate anyone to create a decent wiki, so instead we're focusing on using the revenue (there's no profit yet) to improve the wikis and ensure they do have a chance of being successful. Angela@Wikia (talk) 11:47, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] RSS Feeds - Can we make our own?

Hi Angela,

Is it possible to create your own RSS feed on a wiki that others can subscribe too? If so, can you link me an example or details of it? If not, can this be considered for implementation?

Daworm  talk / cont  06:52, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
After a bit of a chat to Cometstyles. I think I should clarify. I'm looking to set up the news page on http://aoc.wikia.com/wiki/News to be an RSS feed. Is that possible?
Daworm  talk / cont  10:31, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
Ok, ANOTHER update. Ended up finding this extension. Is there any chance of implementing this specifically? It seems the easiest to configure / use on a client end ?
Daworm  talk / cont  11:23, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
This is something we're looking into, but it might not happen for a while yet. Angela@Wikia (talk)

[edit] A simple graph

Hi, Angela. Can you show me how to put up a very simple graph. I've seen them commonly being grey. PitchBlack696 01:59, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Okay, i mustve said that wrong. Go here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eminem

  • and go to the filmography section, thats what i meant. PitchBlack696 10:56, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Hmm. If I put the table from the Eminem page, this is what I get:

2007 (UTC)

Year Title Character Role
2000 Da Hip Hop Witch Himself Cameo
2001 The Wash Chris Supporting
2002 8 Mile Jimmy "B-Rabbit" Smith Lead
2008 Have Gun — Will Travel Paladin Lead

How come theres no lines nor background color???? PitchBlack696 20:20, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Can you set something like that up then?? It would be very useful. I'm the admin at the Monster Hunter Wiki. PitchBlack696 02:38, 9 November

Angela, can you please add that code to see lines and background color in the Monster Hunter Wiki? PitchBlack696 23:58, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Odyssey Online Wiki

As you've probably seen I've been working on the Odyssey Online Wiki. I actually downloaded the game just to be able to make the first starting article. But I've actually kept it and have started playing the game a bit. Guess I'd like to adopt it. ^_^ This'll make 2 non-animanga wiki I've adopted. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) (tricks) (current topic) Nov 8, 2007 @ 05:24 (UTC)

Also, 65.93.56.30 needs to be blocked on the Odyssey Online Wiki, it's another user threatening to vandalize. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) (tricks) (current topic) Nov 8, 2007 @ 16:45 (UTC)

That's also Tyler Warren. He used that nickname on us, too. --Stinkowing 16:54, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

Ok, it's probably a long shot... But can CheckUser be enabled for a user on a single wiki? This is one of the rare cases where having an admin on a wiki who has CheckUser privileges would be a good idea to deal with big vandals. At any rate, I'd at least like to adopt the wiki. Sysop at least, and Bureaucrat. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) (tricks) (current topic) Nov 8, 2007 @ 18:29 (UTC)

Ok, no CheckUser. But I'd still like to adopt the wiki. I definitely need sysop, there's going to be a lot of proxy blocking as you'll see in your talkpage history, Bureaucrat is good to. I think I'll add some site JS that ads a "Check Proxy" link beside the rc block link for those of us with the blocking powers. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) (tricks) (current topic) Nov 9, 2007 @ 05:02 (UTC)
Ok, looks like the tool for checking proxys won't work. Guess we'll just stick to a ban on every IP which is from a user with the soul intent of vandalizing the wiki. Though if it grows to much, keep tweaking the settings of the wiki to disable anon editing a possible consideration. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) (tricks) (current topic) Nov 9, 2007 @ 05:34 (UTC)

[edit] The Office Wiki/Dunderpedia

Angela, when I initially created The Office wiki page, I titled it "The Office Wiki" though I want to officially change to title to "Dunderpedia" or maybe "Dunderpedia: The Office Wiki". How do I go about doing this? DaHumorist 21:35, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

  • I am receiving help from user Sannse, so nevermind. Thanks anyway. DaHumorist 21:59, 8 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Sailor Moon Wiki

^_^ Got another one of my co-adoptions after all this time. T_T But Splarka is gone and Sannse has doctors orders so you're the only one left familiar with my co-adoption of wiki when someone wants to work on a wiki as part of Wikia ACG but isn't up to being the admin.

Katie5000 wants me to adopt the Sailor Moon Wiki. ^_^ She actually got the Wikipedia copying right strait off the bat, so she's probably one of the best editors that's come along to the Animepedia.

I still have the Sysop tag on the wiki from my past work reverting big vandalism there, Bureaucrat could be a nice flag, but AnimeBot definitely needs a Bot flag. And if you don't give me Bureaucrat to do it myself then AnimeBotSys will need a Sysop flag there since I won't be able to do that myself. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) (tricks) (current topic) Nov 9, 2007 @ 05:10 (UTC)

I don't understand what you mean by co-adoption. Why wouldn't Katie adopt the wiki? Angela@Wikia (talk) 22:07, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
I get a lot of users who like series and with a bit of technical help on the side of someone doing the templates and backend things that they use for content in articles. But they don't have a clue how to create templates, administrate a wiki, and organize a community. The two biggest things making animanga wiki inactive is a lack of fans knowing about the wiki, and when they do know, people intimidated at the work that isn't just writing content for the wiki.
I never actually called it co-adoption, but basically when someone is interested in working on an animanga wiki I adopt it and help set it up so that they can easily work on the content with nice results. There would be more inactive animanga Wikia without me doing that. I guess the best example is the Narutopedia. That was inactive when I adopted it, and I still only to minor content work. Other people do most of the content. But I handle the organization and various other things. ^_^ So basically I get to do all the technical organization, and community management I'm good at. And the editors get to nicely work on the content in the wiki knowing that they are using templates and other systems that have already been thought out and don't need them to go messing with them to improve them. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) (tricks) (current topic) Nov 10, 2007 @ 01:56 (UTC)
Have you thought about helping other users to do that instead of doing it for them? It doesn't sound very scalable simply to have you do their templates and organization for them. Angela@Wikia (talk) 09:36, 10 November 2007 (UTC)
There isn't actually much template work to do. 99% of the templates someone will need are already part of Wikia ACG. All I do is sync over the templates and most of the issues with needed templates for content is gone. And once you start the organization of something it doesn't take to much for the active users on the wiki to keep that organization going. Actually, aside from the stuff to do at the start I actually watch the RC of the wiki and try and find editors who would make good admins. I actually gave TheUltimate3 Sysop on the Narutopedia. After you do the work in setting a good wiki up the fans aren't that intimidated at the work to do there and it doesn't take as much effort. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) (tricks) (current topic) Nov 10, 2007 @ 20:45 (UTC)
Actually, I've been trying to find a good place outside of Wikia ACG to put some things. The Visual CSS Classes I use, and with the exclusion of the acg specific color classes the Box class system to are pretty well done. I was looking for a good place outside of Wikia ACG I could put them along with some other things and create a little project to make those available for use on wiki that wish to use them. I was also working on an iBox system. Basically I'm working on taking the syntax I use in my Infoboxes and turning them into templates like iBox/Start and iBox/Row which can be used to piece together into other infoboxes. I was hoping to be able to use the iBox system to create the infoboxes on the Odyssey Online Wiki. Though I paused my editing there because I'm trying to ask the game's creator a question on the weapons. I saw two types of War Maces in the game and don't know if we're going to half to include the +## as part of the titles. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) (tricks) (current topic) Nov 10, 2007 @ 20:53 (UTC)

So i made millions of templates, and i will start writing articles on it. But i am just asking; Could you please make me a bureaucrat on this wiki? [edit] SVGs

  • The odd thing is that up until 3 weeks ago, upload and processing on the server to generate png versions was working just fine. All the old SVGs work just fine on genealogy- eg: w:genealogy:Image:Flag of Malaysia.svg.
  • Unless I hear otherwise, I am assuming you folks are going to take care of the svg situation. If I should be thinking about writing some code to generate png versions for all the svgs on Joe and Robin's sites, drop me a note. I don't think you are thinking about going to print media with any of this material, so I don't really see much of an argument for the SVGs. (Even if we did, we could Bot them over from commons sometime downstream.) ~ Phlox 20:49, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
Opps! I used "?&action=purge" on c:psychology:Image:PD-icon.svg because it was not rendering properly, now it will not render anywhere on the Psychology Wikia at all. Tcrow777 Talk | Teklogs 21:44, 9 November 2007 (UTC)
This is happening on a few wikis. I'll try to find out why this is happening and get it fixed as soon as possible. Angela@Wikia (talk) 22:17, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Colours of googleads at de.aoc

Could you please change the colours of the google ads like they are in the english version? --Torsten 16:39, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

I've asked Michael Davis to set this. Let me know if it doesn't happen. Angela@Wikia (talk)

[edit] Geology admin

Angela, I really appreciate the adminship, but it was on the wrong wiki! Sry to be telling you this, but can u make me admin on the geology wiki? Thanks for everything! Scottman108

[edit] Deletion

Hi, Please could you delete www.realhustle.wikia.com because instead i would like to create this wikia... http://requests.wikia.com/wiki/Bandpedia

thanks - --Arran 22:53, 10 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] size of ads

Lately i have sensed that the the dofus wiki had something different in the monobook skin and then i notice this edit by macbre in the monobook i left him here at central a msg asking what was the bug he repair but still no answer, then i notice the size difference (image comparition). So why the english dofus wiki has 160px wide ads in monobook skin? while the rest of the wikis have 120px, can this be set back to its former size to 120px? --Cizagna (Talk) 15:59, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Yes, i have try, im still trying to get use to it, but i have tools that i can only use in monobook, and currently im having an issue with IE7 where the wiki cant load since i sometimes use both explorers to compare displays, i already report that to sannse and she ask JaeSharp so he/she is looking at it but hope it gets resolve soon since i have lots of reports on the report list. Thanks and i will be waiting for your answer --Cizagna (Talk) 16:38, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Teklogs adoption

Angela, I was wondering if I could get Sysop rights at Teklogs, I have been editing there for about a week, just like in the case of Napster964 on the Heavy Metal wiki the admins and bureaucrats have been offline for a little over a year.

My contributions on Teklogs

I would also like to suggest that the Italian Teklogs be shut down if no one adopts it in 30+/- days, I do not think one edit was ever made on that wiki.

I hope you accept my request, have a nice day and continue to be one of the greatest Wikia community members. Tcrow777 Talk | Teklogs 19:21, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks! However my user name does not show up in c:tech:Special:Listusers/Sysop yet. Tcrow777 Talk | Teklogs 04:56, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
I only asked for Sysop rights, but whos complaining? Tcrow777 Talk | Teklogs 05:18, 12 November 2007 (UTC)
I tried merging page histories to fix 2 copy-and-paste moves, the merged history did not appear in the edit history, but it's in the logs and when I go to undelete the undelete page says the deletion was already completed. Tcrow777 Talk | Teklogs 11:15, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
It's still not working, some edits were lost, the log says it is undeleted but on the history it still says "View or undelete 5 edits?" and when I scroll down the edits are not there. The c:tech:Special:Undelete page also says that the edits were already undeleted and will not let me try to undelete them again. c:tech:Template:Site Press and c:tech:Template:Headlines are the two pages I am having problems with. [edit] Ace Wikia Adoption

Hello! I stumbled across Ace Wikia when I was trying to found an Ace Combat wikia. The site has been inactive for more than a year and many of the articles have been copied and pasted (badly) from wikipedia. And so, I request to adopt it. I am a halopedian and I know most mark up text and I am very experienced with the editing tools. Also, I am a big fan of the Ace Combat series and I own and have played most of the games that are in the series. AJ

[edit] IRC Wikia Cloak

Hello Angela! I'm 'Steik' on freenode and wanted to request IRC cloak wikia/Wassily-Steik. Thank you. Медиа (Media) 20:20, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

I've registered User:Wassily Steik account as you told. Медиа (Media) 08:48, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] SVG problems after the fix

Some flags:

~ Phlox 16:33, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Hey Angela, SVGs were working fine yesterday, though today they're not. I uploaded this image and this image on the Super Smash Bros. Wiki, though they both do not appear in articles nor do they appear on their img description pages. However, previously uploaded SVGs are working fine, such as this image and this image (though this image does not appear on its description page). I've cleared my cookies and did a hard refresh for the new SVGs though they still do not appear.--Richard 19:02, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

I've reported all these examples as being broken. Hopefully the next fix will really fix them. Angela@Wikia (talk) 12:59, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikia Helper Group

Hello Angela. Is there any requirements or something to become member of the Helper group? I would like to nominate myself as a volunteer. --DCLXVI 22:39, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

This is for contractors and interns who are actually working for Wikia rather than something for the general editing community. Janitorship is for non-staff though if you're interested in cross-wiki spam fighting. Sannse co-ordinates janitors so is the best person to ask for more details on this. Angela@Wikia (talk) 00:02, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply. My idea is to promote Wikia in Bulgaria - websites, blogs, press etc., and to help (mostly Bulgarian) users and administrators with their wikis. Being part of the Helper (or Janitor, as you suggest) group, should help me with trivial sysop duties around the wikis - not only removing spam, but helping with little things like editing the system messages, by deleting copyright violations, sometimes, when necessary, protecting pages, attacked by vandals etc. - things that many of the newcoming Wikia founders do not know how to deal with. I'll speak with Sannse about that, but please let me know about your point of view. Thanks :) --DCLXVI 00:16, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
I think there's a lot you can do for these wikis without needing global admin rights. Since none of them are active enough to have major vandal problems, I suggest you try to recruit some admins to them by promoting the wikis. Angela@Wikia (talk) 12:59, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] kathleen.wright5

What is this user doing? Most, but not all, of these category changes are completely unnecessary. This person is not acknowledging my questions at all. --CharitwoTalk 00:06, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Good question... she has now left some responses at User talk:Kathleen.wright5 and on other user talk pages. I suggest a janitor checks her contribs sitewide since there are a few category "issues" to clear up. Angela@Wikia (talk) 13:04, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
I have checked the user's cross-wiki contribs. Mostly the contribs are just harmless category page creation; though pointless, it's done in good faith. However, I think she should reply to talk page queries - as Central Wikia is very different from most other Wikia. The policies over here are most likely different too, and we may not need excess amounts of new categories, seeing as the current category structure works more than well for everyone. There's no need to further complicate things, as new Wikians find Central already very confusing.
But what I don't get is edits like this one: adding content pages to template category is just pointless to me. I'd suggest the user to have a look at core policies and then just watching a bit how Central Wikia community works, and then editing again. Good-faith edits are always more than welcome to Wikia. :) --Jack Phoenix (Contact) 14:02, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
I was going to wait til she replied to my most recent edit to her talk page before I started going through her contribs and fixing things. Basically removing templates cats from non-template pages and fixing noincludes for the ones that are. Also restoring the browse category. However, Tcrow's approach is exactly what we don't need :/ I'll go through and clean things up after I get off work today for what Dantman has not already reverted. --CharitwoTalk 16:08, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] I want to adopt Italian WoWWiki

Hi.I'm Alessandro, an italian player and fan of the Warcraft Universe. I will be really please to create usefull articles about story, places and usage of classes in the WoW game and also datailed information from RPG sources. Thanks.

I'm registered to Wikia as XMaverick.

[edit] Pikipedia

The Pikipedia (Pikmin Wiki) seams to have finished their discussion here. It looks like Me_just_in could use bureaucrat. But you can leave my Sysop, it looks like they want me to do some things like setting up the DPL Forums. ~NOTASTAFF Daniel Friesen (DanTMan, Nadir Seen Fire) (talk) (tricks) (current topic) Nov 16, 2007 @ 05:22 (UTC)

[edit] Bureaucrat Issue

  • On the PotC Wiki, I am one of three administrators. However, the other two, both bueracrats, have taken off. I'm not sure why I wasn't made a beuracrat, it's possible the administrator that made me an admin (Captain Kwenn) did not know how. As a staff member, I was hoping that you would be able to fix this problem.--Lord Cutler BeckettPort Royal 12:27, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Interwiki problem

We, UWN, have now 5 sites:

Currently there are interwiki's between the Dutch and the Romanian version. We already asked to create an interwiki with the English version too, but this is never really done. Can we get interwiki's with all five now?

  • The dutch one: nl
  • Romanian: ro
  • English: en
  • Aeres: ae
  • And the organisation: uwn or just uw, if uwn is to long

Thanks, Dimitri N. WS/WN 12:29, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Just use [[w:c:server]] (for example, [[w:c:uwn]]). There's no need for seperate interwiki links. -- Manticore Talk | Contributions 16:06, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
But Angela, is the en:-interwiki coming? Dimitri N. WS/WN 16:13, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
http://nation.wikia.com/ is the English one so just use [[w:c:nation]]...--Cometstyles 16:34, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
The only way for a link to appear in the "In other languages" box is if the interwiki prefix used is the name of a language, so en: yes fr: oui pt: sim pl: tak but w:c:whatever? No.
The en one from the other languages should be working now. Let me know if that's not what you wanted. Angela@Wikia (talk)

[edit] Thanks

Hi Angela, I just thought I'd stop by and say thanks for your help with the HammerWiki merger. It went a lot smoother than I'd thought it would ;)

There's just a couple of final issues to be cleared up. The old Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay wikis still redirect to HammerWiki - these need to be re-established in their own right again, since they cover different aspects of the Warhammer hobby. Hopefully the content in those wikis is still intact. Ta. --Pendrako 20:06, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

I'll let Angies know about this since she was involved in the decision to merge those 2 originally. Angela@Wikia (talk)

[edit] Uncyclopedia

Hi Angela, Codeine from Uncyc here. Hope you're well and good. We're currently having a discussion on Uncyclopedia about the possibility of launching a range of "UnMerchandise" via cafepress.com, and I believe it would be good to get Wikia's input on this matter, especially with regards to the following questions:

Has it been done before by other wikis? Did it work? What's the best way to deal with licensing issues arising from the CC-BY-SA? Is there any precedent with regards to disbursement of funds?

We're not expecting you to specifically answer any or all of these questions, of course; but if you or the members of your staff that you feel would have the best knowledge about these matters would care to contribute, your input would be most welcome. The reason this has come up is because a user decided to set up an "UnStore" of their own, without regards to license or community input, and while the majority of Uncyclopedians who've express
