I told you something like this would happen. Captain-poison hasn't edited since July 24 at 18:10. earlier was 5 minor edits on the 23rd and 3 on the 14th. And i saw him last week so 24th-7th. Yours Sincerily, Forerunner

What is the problem? Do you mean the wiki is not active? If captain poison doesn't come back, another active editor could be made the admin, but there's no urgent need for that if the wiki is not active. Angela@Wikia (talk) 08:38, 10 August 2007 (UTC)

We're now suffering vandelism! there are 2 admins. Sean Williams hasn't edited since March whilst the other guy hasn't since October 9th. Frrnnr

Hello Angela. Can you please turn User:Plumber into a normal user of the Fantendo Wikia please? He has been "vandalizing" the Monobook in a way, as he is changing to a more un-neutral background, fitting it towards mainly his preference.

I'm sorry to have bothered you with this, but this is his second time changing the main skin to a format only a few users like.

Is this still a problem? I noticed you'd reverted back to his version on the monobook. Any admin can change that, so if there's a problem, please revert it and then discuss it and find a consensus on what the style should be. If he still goes against the consensus after that, then the Fantendo community could consider de-adminning him, but he doesn't seem to be reverting to his version right now. [edit] Help with an admin giving personal attacks!

On the RuneScape wiki, User:Clv309 is personal attacking me and nothing is being done about it, because she's an admin. Recently, on the User of the Month voting we have, she called me a "bastard" and claimed that I "ruin the wiki with my bs and lies". She also reverts anything User:Beanball36 does in voting because she thinks he is a sock puppet, even though he is just somebody I know in real life who is being supportive. I fear that Beanball36 won't ever be able to take place in discussions until it is accepted that he is not a sock puppet. Things like this have been going on for about a month and a half and nothing good will come of this if nothing is done. I am a normal user with rollback rights on the RuneScape wiki, by the way. What I'm asking is, can you take a look at what has been happening and respond on my Ed Edd and Eddy wiki talk page (to avoid being hated by other users on the RuneScape wiki by them seeing that I did this) and tell me if punishment is in order? [edit] A little help would be appreciated...

It appears several users (or perhaps only one user who has created multiple sock puppets) have decided to swarm the Legend of Zelda wikia with many unconstructive edits and blanked-out pages and/or silly redirects. Examples of these contributions can be easily viewed under the 'Recent changes' link. This may not have been as big a problem had the elected admins of this wikia been at present, but... well the problem is, they aren't.

Naftaliash827, myself, and Dave at the Shearer's have been attempting to delay their efforts in their vandalism, but I fear it may be encouraging them to continue doing so. Thus, I was hoping you would be able to put a stop to these users.

Hello Angela, I'm a bureaucrat from the Non-Canon Star Trek Wiki and you may remember that sometime ago I contacted you with regards with moving the namespace to Memory Beta. Unfortunately, that wasn't possible because we had already had project pages in the Memory Beta namespace and would have lost them.

Hi Angela. I am an administrator at Memory Beta. I see that the namespace has been changed (and two new pages have already been created in it). All of the previous pages that were at "Non-canon Star Trek Wiki:..." have moved to "Memory Beta:..." and the links are blue-linked as if the pages exist, but there is no text on any of those pages. [edit] Adoption 2.0

I added some CSS to Quartzsmoke.css, Quartzslate.css, and in anticipation, also Quartz.css to add fixes to it to put the note in the right location. (Though I don't know if the Translate this box is right or not)

Adoption 2.0 was a bit of an project idea with the aim of trying to make adoptable wiki more noticeable. The idea was that every once in a while, an adoptable wiki could be tagged with an Adoption 2.0 template. When tagged a wiki becomes the current featured Adoptable wiki. I was hoping to find a spot on some place like the Community portal, but I can't find an open spot there. The idea is to put a random adoptable wiki up in a place where collaborative info is, to try and get some of them noticed more by people. Hi Angela, Do you think you could make me an administrator at www.pirates.wikia.com, we only have one administrator there and the site has been going for a long time now and is quite large. The Administrator has received numerous requests to set up a proper election system so that long standing and trusted members of the community may be voted in, but its been nearly a year and nothings been done, we suffered some vandalism a few days ago and as Kwenn was away we were powerless to stop the guy. Furthermore I am the second longest standing member of the community and as far as contributions go I am second only to Kwenn, I have been a member of the Wiki for a very long time now and have contributed much not only to Pirares but to other wikis as well. Well as ive said ive brought the subject up with Kwenn before and he said there will only be more administrators when the community accepts the requests for adminship page that he set up, but that was nearly a year ago. As for the community being big enough, I dont think it is, the website is definately big which is why we need more admin, but there are only four requlor editors myself Kwenn Cutler Beckett and Wanderingshadow the rest are anons who cant vote. The Wiki has been expanding rapidly the past few months and as the content grows so does the vandalism hence the need for more admin and I dont think Kwenn has any interest in sorting the problem.--\\Captain KickAssJedi// 15:01, 25 August 2007 (UTC)

On wikia' voting, self-nomination is considered not allowed. Possibly because others would call you selfish, maybe you win cos there were no other nominations. No matter the reason, it's best to stand out and be nominated my another user. Though if nominated by someone else, you CAN vote for your self. [F]
Voting yourself seems rather pointless. I don't think any bureaucrats should take such votes into account. If the user being nominated doesn't want the position, they can simply remove the nomination. Angela@Wikia (talk) 14:56, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

As you know, User:Forerunner was blocked from Halopedia for "a period of infinite," according to the block log. As you might not know, Forerunner has a sockpuppet account, User:Chief2552. We have told him that it is wrong to have a sockpuppet account because it allows him to vote doubly on things, and just recently he actually used his sockpuppet to circumvent his ban, as you can see here. I removed this vote, and now Forerunner has commented on my talk page here at Wikia, saying that I was "mean." While I am perfectly capable of dealing with any further sockpuppets, I would just like you to know about this, because ban circumvention is a very serious offense, and because, back when I banned him the first time, I knew him rather well, I think, and I knew that he could and would do things like this, which I feel further (hmm... not sure if you would agree with "further," 'cause I dunno if you think that ban is justified at all... meh) justifies my decision to block him. i keep telling you i made Chief2552 cos my coputer woulodn't let me re-change skins after i clicked save on one of them instead of preview. I couldn't change it as an error stopped me from being able to re-change skins (as in some links were more like Words edited to be blue and underlined instead of linking if you know what i mean). It was ok when i logged out. so i had to use Chief2552. In actual fact Forerunner is sock and Chief is the real being. Because on OLD Halopedia i operated under Chief but in wikia i became Forerunner. I infact by coincidence i created a Chief2552 on another wikia. This was at the begning when i didn't know of da wikias having shared accounts cos i never had the save password on computer used. Also i'd like to say that before me + GPT "fell out" we hardly eva talked 2 each other! we always voted for da opposite and other things. so i don't know why he'd decide to wright it as a similarity to... "I thaught i knew hm well, but i knew he'd try and get his own way...". Mental. he said the same about a guy... Captain-poison... vandelises once and GPT bans him 4eva saying he "knew" C-P would vandelise yet again and wouldn't stop.
P.S. Phil.e told me that apparently quite alot of Admins are paranoid... he also says that R2 (hey he should have used that) puts his name everywere anyway... just saying... [F]
PPS. where i live the word Mental also means the hand gesture where both arms are out and shaking and one of your eyebrows is stood up (also meaning "WTF are you talking about" but thats a bit further away from the Mental double meaning (Like londoners moving to Yorkshire, don't get the alternative meanings of some words) [F]
And apparently the block for "suspected sockpuppeteering" as said by RR was that he "suggsted" i "may" have another account. Why would i even bother anyway. i only created mine nd back-up. why would i have another. it's not like i have a big room full of them... each one given an unusual name... [F]

A new logo for the Blade Runner Wikia was uploaded recently and works great - except when the "new skin" is in use, then the old, "placeholder" logo appears. Is there another step that I can take to make it show up when the new skin is used? Thanks! - Nhprman 23:58, 30 August 2007 (UTC)

Hi Angela. I started a couple of wikis under the name manutius. I have reconsidered and for various reasons would like my name to be changed to HilaryReynolds as this does make it easier to prove that it is really me who is involved in the wikis. You can't realy change your username. You can redirect (#REDIRECT [[]]) HilaryReynolds to manutius. Alternatives are... log in infront of your friends (change password later if you wish) to show it must be you... edit your Manutius userpage and write your name. (you can remove the edit later after your friends know it's you) [[User:Forerunner:[F]]]
Forerunner, I am not so sure about this. The following is from http://www.wikia.com/wiki/Help:Create_an_account#Account_deletion

Hello Angela, It seems you get a lot of comments so sorry to bother you. I wanted to adopt the Monopoly Wiki so I've just been making edits to it. I looked at some of the ideas for attracting users here and one said to make sure it was welcoming and not boring when you came to the wiki. I tried to change the Monobook style on it but I believe it was limited to Admin accounts. It said on Adopt this wiki to ask someone from the Community team about adminship rights and you seemed like a pretty trusted member. Please reply on my Wikia talk page. How do you make those messages that appear everywere on a wiki and give you info? the ones that you can only get rid of them by dismissing them? We've got a new image for the "spotlight" (or whatever term is used for the little randomly-changing link-image to a wiki in the top-right corner of the page) for Teletraan-1; Image:Tel1-SpotlightBox.jpg . I just removed Splarka from #halopedia's access list 'cause it clogs up the list, and the three staffers we've got right now should be able to cover anything bad that happens while no other opers are around. But then I realized, why not just get a different cloak for staffers than for general Wikians who want a wikia cloak? Maybe a wikia/staff/Angela instead of just wikia/Angela, so we can add *!*@wikia/staff/* to the access list? Splarka suggested just adding *!*@wikia/* but I don't know half the people with a plain wikia cloak and don't really want to do that... Splarka said Freenode wouldn't do that, but it's worth a shot, innit? 'Cause that would make adding staff to the access list easier, an' stuff. [edit] Adoption of SimCity 4 Wiki

Hi Angela, I'm the adopter of the SimCity. I would like to adopt SimCity 4 Wiki because I feel the SC4 online community (which includes lots of websites like Simtropolis and Simphoni), lots of user-made mod files, user-made BATs, user-made Unions, etc... which I wanted to include in my SimCity Wiki, but I feel it would get bogged down with too much SimCity 4 online community related stuff, so the SimCity 4 wiki (since it's already made and abandoned anyway - since the wiki is still new) would be a good place to transfer all SC4 online related information. Basic SC4 information - such as the game and expansion pack articles would still be in SimCity Wiki, of course.

Also, on a minor note - I've been having some issues with my admin. He seems to disagree with me a lot on operations. Like yesterday, for example, he reverted a new logo I uploaded to an older one without consulting me about it. I thought he was inactive anyway because he had been gone for two months, but reverted the image in the same day. I plan to talk to him about it, and other issues, but just wanted to give you a heads up on it because I know I would need to consult with you (or another staff member) to revoke his adminship.

And we have another question: I proposed a wiki at c:stad:Forum:United Wiki Nations#uwn.wikia.com used for coordination and disussions about the Fictional wiki towns, the history, etc, and (if possible) a shared image database like commons.
And we can use an interwiki link like "uwn" (and actually, "fr" is not needed, it was not requested when we asked for "ru" - c:villevirtuelle is just related).

We decided we would demote him and promote me, because we don't need any new admins but Vlad hasn't edited in over five months, while I have been first in line for promotion since July and edit much more frequently. Hi Angela, my wiki (Wikination) doesn't upload my images. I tried (more than once) to upload some images from Wikimedia Commons (.png), but every time i got this message: 

Could not copy file "/tmp/phpxep6aL" to "/images/nation/images/1/19/Communication.png".

What can I do about this? The strangest thing is, yesterday and the days before i've uploaded images (also .png) and there was no problem at all... Dimitri N. WS/WN 13:35, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

I hope I can get this done without 50,000 questions: I'm an admin over on Star Trek Expanded Universe, one of four, but the other three are hardly active, occupied as they are by real-life matters (and two of them are just kids). Therefore, can you make User:Jrofeta an admin for us? He's quite active, has the community's trust and respect (and mine), and I'm confident he'll handle it responsibly. I realize this; however, his involvement is actually rather thin and sporadic, and designed to serve his own interests, not the wiki as we've set our standards. This is nothing against him personally; but he's a teenager and trying to get him to do something is like trying to get a teenager to clean his room. (Incidentally, he is a teenager.) He treats it more as "his" wiki. And, he can make others bureaucrats? I was under the impression only stewards can do that, on Wikia. The RuneScape Wiki's IRC channel (#rswiki on Freenode) is under the full control of Clv309, or Christine, as she likes to be called. Christine is a sysop and a very hard-working contributor. She regularly reverts vandalism, blocks vandals, deletes speedy deletion candidates and unused images, and welcomes new users to the wiki. She often undertakes large projects when editing to make content consistent, and is very dedicated to her projects.

However, she is also often involved in conflict with many other members of the wiki. The wiki is currently in a state of turmoil due to a series of major conflicts over content and community issues, and Christine has been involved in almost all of them. Although many of the user on RSW have short tempers (myself included), Christine seems to seek out arguments. For example, when Chiafriend12 made "Tavvy" redirect to "Taverley" she deleted it, saying it was unnecessary, and deleted it multiple times after it was recreated. When the issue was brought up on a VFD, she flamed Chia, saying that he was making unnecessary redirects to pad his editcount, and he wasn't doing anything which was actually useful.

Another time, I saw that recent changes was filled with minor edits Christine had made to item articles. When I looked at the differences, I saw that she was replacing the commas in the prices of items with  . I posted a short message on her talk page asking her why she was using the non-breaking space, and she responded harshly on my talk page, saying I was edit policing and watching "every fucking edit" she made. She also gave me a link to another user's talk page, where the user had told her that non-breaking spaces should be used to avoid confusion, as decimals are used to separate decimal places in Europe, while commas are used to separate decimal places in the United States, so the non-breaking space would be understood by all and wouldn't separate the number onto two lines like a normal space would. This was a good reason, but she was very defensive and aggressive in her response.

She has aggressively opposed Cashman286 on many issues. Cashman is a fairly longtime user who does not contribute much to the mainspace, but is pretty active in community discussions. He has a strong ambition to be a sysop, and has nominated himself five times (his fifth nomination is still running), but has failed each time. Despite this, he keeps a positive outlook and is never discouraged. Christine seems to think that he is unintelligent and does nothing to help the wiki because of his multiple self-nominations and low editcount. She has opposed each of his RFAs, and flamed him a number of times.

On Cashman's latest RFA, there has been a considerable amount of conflict, which Christine has been significantly involved in. Due to other conflict and flaming caused by RFAs recently, many members of the wiki participated in a discussion in the wiki's IRC channel (#rswiki on Freenode). Due to the issues caused by the voting process on the wiki, we decided to mute the channel and give each wikian a chance to point out Cashman's strengths and weaknesses while the rest of us listened. Whiplash, our most active bureaucrat, and myself (a lowly sysop =); my RfB was declared unsuccessful by a partially inactive bureaucrat although it had 2/3 support due to lack of consensus) were opped and were moderating the discussion, although most of our administrators have the ability to self-op themselves in the IRC. While Ilyas, another of our sysops, and I were each giving our opinions on Cashman as a contributors, Christine interrupted us several times. When Ilyas said that Cashman was helpful as an overall contributor, Christine opped herself to say "is not". I de-opped Christine and asked her to stop interrupting others, and she opped herself to say "asshole". After a few more had each taken a turn speaking, Whiplash said that he had to leave, and told me to supervise the discussion. I attempted to prevent the speaker from being interrupted, but Christine repeatedly opped herself, and warned me not to de-op her. When I did, she removed me from the #rswiki access list so that I couldn't op myself. When our IRC channel was set up by Oddlyoko, one of our bureaucrats, she was made one of the three channel contacts because she was fairly knowledgeable in IRCs, along with Oddlyoko and Endasil, another knowledgeable IRC user. Since, Oddlyoko and Endasil have become inactive, leaving Christine in full control of our IRC channel.

Removal of an admin from the access list is a violation of our block policy as it was done to gain an advantage in a discussion. Christine refused to be reasonable, although I had been told by Whiplash to supervise the discussion. When the discussion died down and one of the few users left asked what we had accomplished, she said that she had "removed Gang from the access list, if that counts."

Normally, I would try to sort out an IRC matter in the IRC without bringing it up on the wiki, but I can do nothing because she has full control of the IRC. Due to the history of conflict, I ask that you try to convince her to add me to the access list and give Whiplash or Ilyas contact status for the channel, as I doubt that she will listen to me, and I don't want to start another block or flame war on the wiki. If she refuses, the wiki may need a new IRC channel, as she can simply ban anyone who disagrees with her. I also ask that she be temporarily de-sysopped if she refuses, as Dreadnought recently was for flaming. Although her contributions are valuable and she uses her sysop powers well, she has also abused them. However, I would prefer that the situation be solved with minimal conflict, and I hope that she can agree and avoid any fighting. Thanks, Gangsterls01:31, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

I'd like to point several things out here.
  1. I was not the only one who deleted the Tavvy redirect, Gangsterls himself even deleted it. Three times. Also, I don't even see where I accused anyone of padding their edit count.
  2. I am not the only one to oppose Cashman on his RfA. The arguments made against him are valid, and he barely has 56% support. Its unfair of Whiplash to agree to sysop Cashman when the community as a whole does not support him. I continue to oppose him because I do not feel he is doing anything to improve, something that 1 or 2 other editors have pointed out before me, which I agree with.
  3. About the non-breaking spaces: first, it was not my talk page I referred Gangsterls to. Second, this was not the first time he had watched my edits. Previously he had deleted 30 or so redirects I had created, also calling them useless and accusing me of padding my edit count (hypocrite much? And to add fuel to the fire, the next day he also created redirects much like the ones I had, using capitals for second words).
  4. I called Gangsterls an asshole for continually deopping me. No less than 10 times. He seemed to feel that every sysop besides me had the ability to control themselves while other people were talking. And yes, there were times where it was everyone but me. I interrupted once and then when back to editing on the wiki, however if he had stopped deopping me and therefore stopped highlighting me, I wouldn't have said anything more. I didn't like the way the discussion was set up and did not completely want to participate. In fact I never got a chance to speak at all. I removed Gangsterls from the access list because he felt he was the only one who should be able to talk at all. Whiplash is a 'crat, however that does not give him authority over everyone and everything. Gangsterls continued to deop me, and kicked me twice, even after telling him at least twice to stop. I feel this was abuse of his power so to prevent him from anymore op wars I took him off the list and deopped everyone, including myself.
There is another sysop who has mentioned Gangsterls once had an op war when we started to enforce the no-op unless necessary policy that Freenode has. Apparently Gangsterls refused to deop. There's a bit more to this story and this person has agreed to talk to you over IRC PM if you'd like to hear it. Christine 18:59, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Christine, you were offered a chance to speak and turned it down. I wasn't speaking at all, I was only stopping those interrupting the speaker. I deopped you because you were continually interrupting. Cashman is not flawless as a user and may not be the best candidate for adminship, but you fight with him almost constantly, including today. You lose your temper and write entire sentences in capital letters. I didn't post here to argue or gain support for Cashman's nomination, as no consensus has even been reached. The "op war" you refer to occurred months ago when the policy was changed to only be opped if necessary, and I wasn't informed and was constantly deopped. When this was explained to me I did deop, as I understood the policy, and didn't insist on being opped. You do not have the sole right to regulate the IRC as you want and interrupt the speaker when everyone is being given a fair chance; indeed you turned your chance to speak down when Ilyas asked if you wanted to speak.
